Love my Woodford.....had a couple glasses last night.

Had a friend rave about it, so snagging a bottle.

 

On a related note, tried some Jefferson's Ocean today . . . it was excellent. Just got a 1 ounce sample as I do not feel comfortable spending ~$90 on a bottle of bourbon.

 

I've wanted to try this, especially after recommendations from many. Finally got to today at one of my local watering holes that is not really to be confused with a "Bourbon Bar." Among the dozen-ish labels was the Jefferson's Ocean. They charged me $8 a pour. It was outstanding, and I had two.

 

The place I bartend at charges $25 a pour.

I'm going to get blasted for this, but IMO there isn't a more overrated bourbon (especially for the price) than Maker's Mark. I do have to give them credit for an awesome marketing campaign, however. My favorites to sip on are Pogue Bourbon and Bookers. Mixing it with diet coke? I never buy anything more expensive than Early Times or Evan Williams. Hell, in college it was always Gentelman or Tavern... I guess anything is better than that.

Went back and had another, and asked them to lock the bottle away for me.

Went through Woodford distillery last week. They sell personalized barrels for $11,000. In doing so, they post your name. Saw a few local (NKY) names / establishments had made the "investment".

 

Woodford Double is very good.

It's a 20 year old cask aged whiskey (not aged in virgin barrels). It hasn't been made for about a decade now, which would account for the insane price.

 

I had it at a tasting once back before they stopped making it. Not bad, but I didn't think it was worth the $175 price tag on the bottle at the time.

Holy smokes, at $100 to $200+ a bottle how can anyone afford to be that generous?

 

That's if you can find them retail (you can't). If you can't you're looking at literally hundreds if not thousands of dollars.

Hey now when I'm not sipping on a premium bourbon I still enjoy a KT and ginger as a night cap from a day of work.

Saw a bottle of Jefferson's Ocean at Total Wines this evening. I think it was $84. Still too expensive for me.

 

A guy at Total Wines recommended Winchester. He said if I didn't like it, to bring it back for a full refund, I picked up a bottle.

I need to find one of these watering holes. $19 at the OKBB. My wife and I enjoyed it but it more expensive than 750no of my fave.

I'm lucky in that we have a number of options here in town to find this thing and that thing. I've been doing some research and found there's even a place that has the legendary Kentucky Owl for $25 a pour. I'll be trying it soon.
