Hrumff. I was bummed when I found out Beam and Maker's Mark weren't Kentucky owned any more. Being sold to Japan just makes me plain sad. I love spending money that never leaves Kentucky pockets.

Just remember, it's still made in Kentucky. From what I'm hearing, ZERO Kentuckians will lose their jobs over this.

And those folks are MAJOR employers in this area.

All the years will go by and there's still always going to be a bottle of Old Fitzgerald on my shelf. It's a standard.

Been wanting to try the Old Fitz 12yo.

A good one I had over the holidays is Speakeasy, which is made by Willett. Quite good.

For quite a while wasn't Makers owned by a British company before being bought out by Beam Brands? The company I think was called Allied Domecq or something like that???

How many employees work at Maker's Loretto plant do you have any idea?

I would have to think it is a tiny percentile compared to Beam over in Clermont.

I'd bet Maker's Mark has less than 30 employees working there. Conversely, I believe Jim Beam produces over 2/3 of the bourbon made in Kentucky.

That makes sense. They just make Maker's Mark there. There are dozens of different lines coming out of the Clermont plant — as well as other smaller plants, such as the Booker Noe plant in Lebanon Jct.

I traded a bottle of Van Winkle Rye for Pappy 15 YO. Tried out a rye for the first time at the Wild Turkey distillery and was not a big fan, too much spice for my liking. Decided it would be wise to get something I would enjoy.

Where in Northern Ky. can you purchase Pappy VW?

Evan Williams Single Barrel is a high-quality bourbon at an extremely reasonable price.

BOOM!

This right here. I was going to post it, but you beat me to it. My numero uno choice, hands down.
