September 8, 20188 yr Bourbon is cheap in Iowa. The Hy-Vee down the street from my mom’s sister’s place has Evan Single Barrel for $20. My sister in law's dad spent about 3 years flying out to Kansas City, MO once every two months for work. There was a liquor store right next door to his regular hotel that had all the good stuff there at cost, and apparently no one to buy it. He kept me in stock with Weller Antique, Blanton's, and Rip Van Winkle 10 all sold at cost. He switched positions at work about 6 months ago and I almost cried. I did just find out that one of my wife's co-residents is from the sticks in North Carolina, though. Their liquor stores are all run by the state so they sell everything basically at cost, and he was just telling me that the liquor store nearest to his dad's house always has a solid stock of good bourbons for cheap. Now I'm working on developing that friendship :lol2:
September 10, 20188 yr Bought a bottle of Virginia Black American Whisky on clearance at Kroger today under $20. It’s a 2 year old, distilled in IN, so we all know it’s MGP. The website says it is a high rye bourbon so it’s strange the bottle doesn’t proclaim that. Can’t wait to crack it open Friday. Also found a bottle of IW Harper for under $20.

At $85 for a bottle, I wanted to make sure I did my research to make sure it was from Kentucky. Bottle says distilled and aged in Kentucky. Internet research mentions something about Silverton, Ohio and some other place in Connecticut.
September 13, 20188 yr The Michter’s small batch is amazing. That was the best stuff I had tonight at the Bourbon Sampler, outside of the Blood Oath from Luxco. They shouldn’t be offering that at this event, considering it’s $110 a bottle. But I’m glad they do.

Not really sure who makes it but it seems to fall in line for pricing on a single barrel product.

October 14, 20187 yr Wilderness Trail Bottled in Bond. $45 bottle. Wow. This is a delicious bourbon. I'm stocking up on this one.
