I am not sure about that Guru. Who are the Ohio schools that Highlands would face in their class size? I would be interested in seeing that. Elder and the GCL schools are 2 or 3 classes above Highlands and the Birds are hanging right there with them.

I need to know specifically what you are disagreeing with?

And who can help us on what level points Elder will get for the victory (and therefore what Division Highlands would be in Ohio) so we give Voice a list of teams in that class in Ohio?

I am saying I think Highlands just might dominate their class in Ohio like they do in KY. I am not sure there would be that many more teams in Ohio that could threaten Highlands for a state title.

So had I said top 5 or top 3 every year in their class in Ohio would we be on the same page?

We are on the same page with a tweak. I am saying Highlands very well might be a clear #1 and winning titles almost every year in their class size in Ohio just like they are in KY.

Highlands would fit squarely in the middle of DIII with roughly 300 male students in top three grades (252 to 350 is Ohio DIII designation) To put both a local and statewide benchmark out there, Turpin is #2 in state ranking and Cincy Northwest HS is number 5 statewide. Both went into tonight undefeated.

Don't expect that you will see either of those teams looking to come to Ft.Thomas anytime soon.

It would be foolish for Ohio teams near the size of Highlands to schedule Highlands because much more often than not the Ohio team would lose.

In case anyone doesn't understand, Ohio teams only schedule KY teams (or any out of state team) when the Ohio team is almost certain they are going to win the game.

Point of my post being that the likes of Turpin and Northwest are among Ohio's DIII elite this year. Knowing that, where do you see HHS in Ohio DIII rankings?

I completely agree; teams with the same or similar enrollment from Ohio do not want to schedule them likely due to that reason.

I don't have any doubt that Highlands will be prepared for anything they have to face after last night. I know it was a loss, but they played as good as they could with what they had which is more than enough to be proud of.

Guru,

I disagree about OH teams only scheduling sure wins out of state. Moeller and (especially) X have been pretty aggressive with their scheduling. Of course, they are usually very strong, so I suppose you could say that scheduling even the top teams in the country is often likely to produce a win.

You are quite wrong about that. Fantastic defensive effort by the Birds against monumental odds.

I generally agree with your posts but we will just have to agree to disagree on this one. HHS definitely had a chance to win this game. They were not facing monumental odds here. Elder is good but not great. I am not saying the HHS defense was not trying hard but they did not get it done IMO. The good news is that they will not face a team that can run it like that the rest of the year.

So you disagree but you suppose you agree!? :D

There is no comparison between the two states.

Will this change when Lou X beats Cincy X?
