Great job by the defense? They got run over tonight (probably gave up over 300 yards rushing) and gave up 38 points. I know Elder is good (not great by Cincy standards but pretty good), but I cannot call that a great defensive effort - I cannot even call it a good defensive effort.
You are quite wrong about that. Fantastic defensive effort by the Birds against monumental odds.

Was the kickoff return td callback' date=' justified?[/quote']

You'd have to go to film. The official that threw the flag was on the HHS sideline and the play was coming to his end on the other side. He threw it immediately ie runner wasn't to midfield yet.

They held Elder to 17 points thru 3 qtrs. The int changed the game from there. They were on the field way too long and it showed in the 4th......21pts in one qtr vs. 17 thru 3. I say' date=' "Good job, D."[/quote']

I agree the interception was huge but Elder's O pushed Highlands D around all night. Highlands D was bending but not breaking too much until the 4th quarter. Then they clearly broke. Luckily, they won't face a team that runs the ball like Elder in the playoffs.

Also, I thought McCoy was a warrior tonight - he ran and threw the ball well. The play BEFORE the interception may have been the play of the game. McCoy threw a PERFECT pass down to about the 5 yard line and it was dropped. If that ball is caught and HHS goes up in the 4th, things would have been interesting.

I said it would be a 21-pt victory but I had no idea HHS would move the ball as well as they did. I was impressed all around with HHS play. They battled their rear ends off.

Big boy for Elder finished with 5 TDs and 258 yards.

Not sure why Elder passed as much as they did.

Pretty amazing that Kid touched the ball 45 times with not one hold. Come on. So in 60 or so Elder running plays there wasn't one hold that could of been called. That is one diciplined offensive line. Kudos!!!!

Things like that happen and I'm sure the kid wants the play back, but he's a great receiver and it's a team game; bottom line. I give the Birds an A.

I remember Tbirds post about db's hittin' high. Some did and paid the price. Some of those hits were nasty. The great news from this game; no major injuries to note. McCoy took some hard hits tonight and got right back on his horse.
Yeah, he took one shot up high near his head (from the side), and I was sure he wouldn't get up from it. But he popped right up as if nothing ever happened.
