How does HC continue to get by with all these transfers? KHSAA is a joke, has been and will continue to be.

 

The KHSAA set the precedent back in 2002/2003 with the Rose Hill debacle, looking the other way when the private Christian academy was used as refuge for an outstanding AAU team headed by O.J. Mayo, comprised of players from Ohio, West Virginia, and Kentucky. Since then it has been open season for stretching the rules, including the "Thou shalt not transfer for athletic advantage" rule which has been swept under the rug.

To everyone saying he is a nice kid and all this stuff should be ignored......so what. There are plenty of great kids out there in NKY as well as across the state, it doesnt mean we feel sorry for the kid and turn a blind eye to this debacle.

 

I am not saying the kid shouldnt be allowed to play hoops but he needs to get his butt in a school and stay there. If its public fine, if its Catholic fine but get somewhere.

I agree whole-heartedly with what you are saying, but I would venture to guess for the most part it's not the kids fault for this nonsense. I think the blame lies with all the adults.....parents, coaches, administrations, etc......:idunno: Hell for that matter you could through in the KHSAA.

I don't think you can lay all of this junk at the feet of Rose Hill, but I understand your point.

 

Curious, what do you expect the KHSAA to do with this one? Seriously, is there a reason for them to rule him ineligible because of bylaw 6?

Not crazy at all. There was half a chance he'd land in Newport last year, so this makes sense.

Campbell's more likely to play for Moeller this year than CovCath. And, he's certainly not going to be a Crusader.

Granted not a year in and year out powerhouse in any sport, but I'd say the 70 or so kids that played on the three state championship teams at Holy Cross last year felt pretty good about their accomplishments, a number of whom have either already gone on or will go on to play at the next level.

 

Restating your assertions KentuckyJoe, it is damn impressive that a tiny school in need of much repair, with no apparent athletic history or pedigree to speak of, and offering little chance for advancement to the next level in their chosen sport could accomplish so much in one year. Pretty amazing if you ask me.

 

I don't know Joe - maybe it's just me, but if I didn't know any better I'd almost think you were perhaps maybe implying something with your post. I mean it was really subtle, so I haven't quite grasped what you might have been saying here. But I'll think real hard about it; maybe do some snooping around to see what I can find, and get back to you if and when I ever figure out what exactly it is about HC that would ever make a kid want to go to school and "play ball" there. Honestly, I am just as perplexed by the whole thing as you are. Deal?

I thought they said that he was in school at Holy Cross on Monday.

As far as kids transferring from school to school more today, although I am old school and disagree 100% with it unless it is a legitimate situation with their family/move, it is something that goes on more and more today (both boys and girls) in different sports at a LOT of schools, not just at HC. Again, I'm not saying I like it at all, but HC has gotten crushed over the last few yrs on BGP. I think it's just time to just deal with the fact that as long as KHSAA is allowing it and not monitoring it like they did back in the 80s and 90s, then we need to move on. As much as I love HS sports, I want to see the kids get their education first, although "most" times that gets lost in all these transfer situations.

The KHSAA will only do anything about it when neighbor member schools raise a stink about it. If no protest, no inquiry.
