He's back at Holy Cross......Tony Campbell?

Featured Replies

A little birdie told me this morning that Tony Campbell was at Open Gym last night at Holy Cross and would be back in school this morning. Can statman or Baseball Nut 24 confirm this? If this is this case, will the KHSAA be looking into this situation???? Don't know if there is any merit for it, but I'm just wondering. :idunno:

IMO, I feel sorry for this young man for all the "nonsense" he as had to go through the past few weeks.

I will be able to confirm later. Being at a Holy cross Open Gym, does not mean much as alumni and students from other schools regularly attend these.

I don't know that I would call not paying tuition nonsense. If you choose to go to a private school, you pay tuition.

I just want to know how the kid can be eligible. School has been in session for more than a month and where has he been attending?

He was not at school today. But a former and apparent future team mate verified he will return tomorrow or Monday at the latest.

We shall see.

That would be an issue if it was during basketball season.

So where has he been getting his education these last few weeks? Just do not understand how these kids hop around from school to school and are not eligible. Highlands had a kid show up the first day from a Cincinnati school and from what I understand he is ineligible because he does not have enough credits. Will Campbell have to make up all first quarter work in order to be eligible when the basketball season starts on October 15?

From the KHSAA site:

Sec. 6) Deadline for Enrollment

A student shall have enrolled as a bona fi de full-time undergraduate

student no later than twenty (20) school days after the beginning

of the semester to be eligible during that semester.

I would guess that he would not be eligible the first semester.

I agree if you to a private school you pay tuition, however it is not the kids fault. The "nonsense" is this young man in search of a school to call home, and I would assume it's not HIS fault. :idunno:

There seems to be some undisclosed circumstances.........

The following is from another thread: The word I got this morning is...................... there was an issue regarding back tuition and Tony's mom asked to be put on a payment plan. Was told Tony was called into the principals office as well, however they (office Admin.), made one too many phone calls inquiring about payment and Mom said, "SEE YOU LATER"!!!. The coaches were not made aware of this until it was to late. Last thing my source said was that quite a few coaches are considering this season to be their "swan song" at HC. Only repeating what I was told.

I feel bad for the kid because from everything I've been told about him they don't come any better. I wish this young man nothing but the best in the future.

Thanks. Any idea, where or if, he has been attending school since his earlier departure from HC????

My guess he was technically "enrolled" at the beginning of the year.

I guess he's been enrolled at Taft?

from triple double prospects on sept. 6th.

Antonio Campbell – ’13 Cincinnati Taft PF: Campbell, an Ohio University commitment, attended his first day of school at Cincinnati Taft on Thursday; transferring across the river from Covington (KY) Holy Cross. A skilled and wide-bodied 6’8 PF, Campbell will make Taft one of the teams to watch in Southwest Ohio in Division II. A resident of the west end of Cincinnati, this will be Campbell’s first time playing at his in-district school.

I like Tony. He is great kid and wish him the best where ever he plays and look forward to him being in th 9th region.
