September 13, 201214 yr Tasing over not getting off the field that is going overboard. I hope the kid is ok. Refusing to get off the field when asked by a coach(probably teammates) and a Boone County Sherriff is just ignorant.
September 13, 201214 yr Doesn't matter, coach is human so even if he was in the wrong he's still the coach and part of the Ryle administration. If the Coach or any member of the Ryle faculty tells the player to get off the field regardless of whether or not it's "fair" that student has to. If he chooses not to comply then it should/was escelated to the Boone County Sherriff and should be handled accordingly from there. There is no "well maybe the coach was out of line or being unreasonable", it doesn't work that way. Far too many of todays youth and young adults think that society should let them have a say in every thing its ridiculous and could probably be resolved by more backhanded parenting. I must not be making myself clear. I have said about 5 times and 5 different ways that the player in question was in the wrong for not vacating school property when ordered to do so. I am referring to the discipline that led up to this action and was administered by the coaching staff. There is a history of humiliation of athletes at Ryle by members of their coaching staff (not football, that I am aware of) being used as a form of discipline. The first thing I would want to know would be, was this player HAZED?????
September 14, 201214 yr Sounds like some serious jumping to conclusions here. The softball issue/and various threads relating to it comes entirely from one family's point of view and has no connection to whatever happened with the football issue. As for the football event, there are two separate questions - "What happened that caused the coach to call in the Sheriff?" and "What happened once the cops showed up to cause them to taz the kid?" The sheriff would have nothing to do with the coaches interactions with the team prior to them arriving, just as the coach would have no control over the young man being tazzed. I am sure the administration there is appalled that things escalated to this level. Lot's of speculation without any facts. I understand the football and softball are two totally different issues, I simply stated that.....it looks like there are quite a few issues with Ryle.

September 14, 201214 yr Was this high school kid really so out of control that he needed to be tasered?
September 14, 201214 yr Was this high school kid really so out of control that he needed to be tasered? Right, how does a sheriff not have the ability to subdue a teenager? Did they send a 160lb Barney Fife?

Did they send a 160lb Barney Fife? Why would the deputy risk physical injury? Exactly ace, I wonder if the kid was in pads. Regardless it's not like the officer doesn't verbally warn the kid several times before it escelates to this level.

More than likely in pads, with helmet in hand, IE a weapon, that could kill someone if you hit them in the right place with it.

September 14, 201214 yr Why would the deputy risk physical injury?[/QUOT If he is worried about getting hurt he should find a new job.
September 14, 201214 yr The morale on the football team is very good and it will be a very good season in Union when it is all said and done. This was an unfortunate incident and the player was totally out of line. It had nothing to do with some of the assertions in this thread. This is not a black eye situation except for the player and I hope things work out for him.
