Probably was an option that was available, doesn't mean they should have used it instead of the taser.

Would you rather get mace on yourself or stand 15 feet away and use a taser? If you feel that use of a taser isn't necessary then it sounds like your problem is with policy and not the officer.

OK, probably a dumb question, but I'll be the first to ask. What happened? Specifics of course. If legal.

I would guarantee you that there has never been anyone tasered that was doing what they were told by a police offiicer. It makes me laugh that so many on here are questioning the use of taser and not questioning a high kid for not doing what a police officer told them.

I support the cop. If the student refused to leave and acted a fool about it to the police, he deserved it.

The coach is powerless by law. The teammates could be written up for intervening and forcing the kid off the field. The only ones allowed to use any type of force at all are the police... and by the time the coaches and/or educators call for reinforcements, tasing is probably overdue.

Still around, but I can tell you which one I would rather use.

All situations are different, sometimes pepper mace is right, sometimes the taser. I will tell you this, pepper mace does NOT work on everyone. In my experience only about three out of four.

I heard that the boy was already handcuffed and tried to "run away" and was then tasered. Not sure if this is true, but what I heard.

If the kid was so out of control that the coach had to call the police, I find it hard to question why an officer subsequently had to taser him. Sounds like the young man has some serious problems. Hope he gets some help.

Very simple rule to live by, do what the guy with gun tells you the first time and nobody gets hurt.
