Beechwood Coaches Parking Passes For Mayfield Home Games

Featured Replies

The gap is very close and yes it will help them out. It is a good idea by Beechwood IMO.

I don't know much about Beechwood and I know even less about Mayfield, but for some reason my gut would not have told me the gap wasn't that close. Beechwood lost an awfully lot.

I'm guessing that Mayfield will be back in 2A before Beechwood cracks that nut. Seems to me that horse would be the food of choice for those semi-final tailgates.

In looking at the current enrollment reports for 2011, both Mayfield and Beechwood would move to 2a in the next reallignment and Ft Knox and Crittenden Co would move back to 1a.. There'd be alot of happy campers in 1a, if that holds up and 2a would have just gotten alot more competitive..

That was my impression also despite last year's close game.

It is just a respect that I have for the Tigers and Mayfield having a young line to work around. The Tigers really need to get a good passing game going. The threat of a passing game will keep those 9 out of the box. Good to see you posting again Oldbird!

The only potential problem with enrollment reports is the KHSAA usually uses a report that covers multiple years, not just a single year. So when the new alignment comes after the 2014 season, I wouldn't be surprised to see the KHSAA use an average enrollment from both 2013-14 and 2014-15. Beechwood and/or Mayfield may still move up, but it could depend just as much on what is happening in terms of enrollment at many other schools.

Oh, yeah, I realize that and that's definately subject to change, but, I think it would be great if that indeed happened.. Can you imagine how much the rivalries would intensify between NCC/BWood, CHCross/BWood, Murray/Mayfield, OBCath/Mayfield, Danville/Mayfield, etc.. Would be nice to see and 2a would be a bear of a class.. It's already pretty good, and, all of a sudden, you add 2 teams that would be perenial Top 10 teams to it and that would make for some good football..

Does the fact that Beechwood can commit to scouting Mayfield this early in the season indicate a lack of competitive depth in 1A.....[/quote

6A is where the lack of competitive depth lies, only 2 teams with any shot. 3rd best team just got exposed by the Birds.

Is this a sign of Rash being under enormous pressure to get the 500 pound Mayfield gorilla off Beachwood's back or get out of Ft Mitchell. Sending a scout every week 350 miles to Mayfield can only help but seems extreme or desperate to me. I bet this distance to scout weekly is unprecedented and didn't seem to help Bw who apparently did this the last 2 years as well. I know and they already know what Mayfield is going to try and do. The exact same schemes as last year and the year before

I sensed desperation earlier this year when BW was caught sending a coach to scout an opponents PRACTICE.

I doubt seriously that Beechwood will send someone to a Mayfield game every week.. This happened to be a week that they played on a friday and Mayfield played on a saturday. And, being that it was a van, it was likely the whole coaching staff. Not saying that someone won't come again, but, most likely not till the playoffs..

Beechwood would love for that to happen and to move up to 2A. Last year's senior class was a big one for Beechwood - over 100. This year there are only about 85. Hopefully last year's class gets used to help the cause and get Beechwood up to 2A.

I would have agreed with that line of thinking but in the pasts Quickslick, who is or was a Bw scout, has stated that Bw sends scouts every week to Mayfield.

Suprised that more of the regular Bw posters have not weighed in on this

What do you want us to say? It shows the great work ethic and committed coaching staff Beechwood has. Is there anything wrong with scouting a top opponent and your chief rival for state championships over the past decade or so? If I were Frankfort, I would have a scout at every Beechwood game.

Beechwood didn't do to good of job scouting SK did they? :D

If Beechwood is scouting every game this year I think that is incredibly smart on the part of Beechwood.

I had this conversation earlier this summer with a member of the staff. Everything Beechwood does should in part be to help them beat Mayfield.

Law of averages has to come into play as well. I mean, eventually Beechwood has to beat them, right?
