Frosh game - Ryle 26, Cooper 6 and I understand they play again at Ryle.

How is Cooper's Freshman team? They obviously have a great varsity team. If they have a great Freshman team they might be in the begining of a very special run.

 

Didn't they play Ryle's freshman team? If they faired well against Ryle, I would say the future is very bright for Coach Borchers!

The frosh didnt look good against Ryle the first time out, was 20-0 at half and could have been worse. Of course it was hotter than blue blazes that evening and that may have had something to do with it. Ryle looked good, but not dominant, lets see what happens in game 2.

Highlands is it in NKY until someone beats them.

When Cooper wins state this year they can become part of the discussion.

Ill say Cooper would give HHS a good game ! Not sure they could beat them or not . Im just glad to see them winning games ! They have some good athletes and are very fast ,but im not sure they are deep enough to compete with HHS just yet ....

It does sound crazy. But we aren't talking about history. We are talking about this year, right now. We will find out more on whether it is a joke or something to actually start to consider on Friday.

They may hang close for one half. But we all know the Birds have an extra gear when it comes to the second half. It's comparable to a sprinter racing a marathoner for distance. They may hang for a mile or two, but around mile 15 or 20 all you will see in the distance is tail feathers ahead of you! When will these teams realize how valuable conditioning is? I think Borchers might and that could explain their success.

This is Cooper's year. They are a senior heavy team and will not be near as good in the next few years..It's good to see other teams in NKy having success. Good luck Jags!!!

I tend to agree with this. Highlands' two platoon system would almost surely wear down the Jaguars, who have several of their really good players going both ways. But it is still too early to discuss that seriously. First Cooper needs to take care of business and make their case on the field. If they get through the next few weeks and Conner in impressive fashion, then the serious talk about how good they really are can begin.

Back in the early 70's, HHS had a head coach that once told me "if we can hang with them in the 1st half, our conditioning will win the game for us in the 2nd half." Obviously , no platooning back then. :thumb:

As a Cooper fan I'm more concerned with the game against Boone and their run game, control the clock, offense than I am about Conner. I was not at game but from posts it seems Boone had the lead on the almighty Cougars into the 4th which proves their offense was controlling the clock and ball. Whoever "JET" is got hurt and some say could have decided the game, but who knows. The news highlights showed Boone running easily on Conner unless those were the only few successful plays. Cooper and Boone could be very tight but IF there is a big difference in score I think Cooper will be the one on top.
