Do you know NKY football? Look at their schedule. I mean, really. Body of work?? Wow. I'm laughing.

 

They beat NewCath (scrimmage, I know), Ryle and Holy Cross SOUNDLY. Those are 3 Top 10 teams in NKY. They deserve what they are getting right now. If they lose to Conner, they lose to Conner. Right now, however, they look very, very good.

No disrespect to this team for Conner but it's not close to being the best in their history. The State Champ team was very good and I think the Stellman led team with the older Fogle is a lot better than this team as well. West also led some strong teams.

I know I don't lose sleep over high school ranking's and which team is better, etc.. but re-read your post and show where mine was flawed. You constantly down play Cooper because they lost one playoff game, even though they were the #1 seed. Chalk it up to bad match-up, untimely penalties, or just plain old fact, they lost the game. So because of that, they deserve no "pat on the back" for what they have done so far this season. Conner won a couple of playoff games LAST year so they should get all the love. Get over it. They both have good teams. I guess this is a flawed post as well.

Cooper is good and may be the best team in 5A or 6A. We will on 9-28 at Conner. They are not at the HHS level. Scott Co. thought they were, we see how that worked out. Someone mentioned in another thread that HHS should schedule Cooper next year. They may want re-evaluate that. Cooper is senior loaded. There are several key players going both ways, including the QB. Cooper needs to enjoy this, it could be back to reality next year. Playing in 5A may help them compete more, but keep expectations in check. JMO

Now, this conversation is getting out of hand. Conner and Cooper both are very talented teams as they should be with the group of Seniors/Juniors on both sides. But to say Conner may have the best team in school history....C'mon Man know what your talking about. Conner won the State Championship in '83 runner up in '81 in 3A. In 2003 & 04 they went on a 20-0 regular season record for 2 straight years. These teams have a long way to go to match some history. Cooper is making their history now. They are not a new school anymore, this is their 5th season as a school with plenty of athletes.

 

Right now each team needs to focus on the team in front of them for each week, in a few weeks round 1 will be settled. I'm sure they will meet again in November. Road to Bowling Green for 5A will travel through a part of Boone County.

This particular team CAN be very good. Waaay too early for any "best in history" declarations. (Yes, I'm biased in this one.)

Without entering the "who is better " debate let me say the jury is still out on NCC and HC.

Speaking of sports history, I heard somebody say that the core of this Cooper team went undefeated and won the NKY freshman championship back in 2009. Is any part of that true? I know that players are added and subtracted by the time you get to varsity, but it does add to the discussion if true. Cooper may be new to football, but they must know how to win already.

You are looking at it as a team was penalized for not playing a game, the reality is Cooper should have probably been above them the whole time. Cooper is the better team as of right now.

 

And by the way, the vote was unanimous by the ranking members to move Cooper over Conner.
