You are looking at it as a team was penalized for not playing a game, the reality is Cooper should have probably been above them the whole time. Cooper is the better team as of right now.

 

And by the way, the vote was unanimous by the ranking members to move Cooper over Conner.

 

I think some of us are getting way too worked up over rankings. Let's remember that these two teams will play each other to determine who is the better team. In fact, it could happen TWICE. Polls are fun to debate, but at least this is one argument that will be settled on the field, not by ranking members sitting around a chalkboard.

Almost the exact point I tried to make earlier. It's impossible to accurately rank a team based on "what if's" and "if we played them" thinking and you are correct.. The best part is that Conner and Cooper get to play each other in a few weeks, and possibly again in the playoffs.. So we can all debate then.

Good job posting Clyde. The two best runs of the night are missing from that video. Morgan had another INT and return for TD that was amazing to watch. Morris had a scramble play at QB that he cut and circled 3 or 4 times that was his best run of the night, even better than the one on the video.

I would venture to say you haven't seen either team play. True? And why is reality that Cooper should of been ahead of them the whole time? I guess that's based on the way teams finished last season, right? Really? Take a look at last season's rankings, they were way......off.

Just because a team has put up big numbers the first two weeks does not make them as good as highlands. To say that Cooper would beat highlands is ridiculous. Cooper has got a solid squad, but let's get real. Highlands is a 5 time defending state champ.

I understand they have great tradition, but, who's to say Scott Co isn't way down from last year and Boyle, too, for that matter..

Speaking of sports history, I heard somebody say that the core of this Cooper team went undefeated and won the NKY freshman championship back in 2009. Is any part of that true? I know that players are added and subtracted by the time you get to varsity, but it does add to the discussion if true. Cooper may be new to football, but they must know how to win already.

Yes, I am using that scrimmage. But it isn't a comparison of game results that leads me to my opinion. Obviously that would be silly. I know Barker didn't play. I know Fogle was the QB. I know players were rotated in and out. I know it was a scrimmage and played at a different level, different plays, etc. But I did see the starting line for Conner. I saw nearly all their players in some action. I can evaluate talent by watching what the players do in their time on the field. Based on what I have seen, Cooper looks to have more talent than Conner. They are one fast football team. We will have to see the continuing body of work by both, but at this point in the season Cooper is one of the more impressive teams I have seen in the past few years. Maybe it all clicked versus Holy Cross for them. But that is how I see it now ... based on talent and plays made on the field by individual players, not game results.
