June 30, 201214 yr What did he do? Just the way he is. Never takes a direct stance on anything. It's always a bang bang play or to close to call. He said he wasn't sure if the Reds would have turned 2 when the Panda man grabbed Cozart. No chance they would have turn it considering Cozart wasn't going to throw the ball. Never willing to get on a Reds player for anything no matter what. I think he does a pretty good job but I just don't like his style, hes boring.
June 30, 201214 yr How we lookin? You saying they didn't suck last night? I guess we watched different games. Tonight they were much better.
June 30, 201214 yr And this one belongs to the Reds! Cozart started things off with a HR and the Reds scored 3 in the 1st off of Matt Cain to set the tone for the game. Cain settled down but Leake stymied the Giants. Mike Leake with a great outing, as well as a couple hits (including a home run). His 1st CG of his career. Yes it was.
June 30, 201214 yr The roation of Cueto, Latos (the non headcase version), Arroyo, Leake and Bailey is not a bad rotation...They still have their inconsistencies but not nearly as many as the Offense...The Reds seem to score in bunches and struggle with RISP...The offense worries me much more than the pitching ... Yes it should.

Listen to him sometime talk about hitting like he was a position player.
June 30, 201214 yr Author My power was out until about 3 am. Folded my tent and crashed early. I'm beginning to think the storm blew the earth into a reverse orbital rotation. The web is chock full of Dusty's effusive praise for Leake???...excuse me, Leaky . He left Leake in the whole game. Resisted the temptation to let Cairo pinch hit for him in the top of the 8th. Next up, Dusty takes Frasier out for a milk shake, gets named a bench coach for the Allstar game by Larussa and then calls Derrick Lowe to set up a date to go fishing.
June 30, 201214 yr Game thoughts: I called this one perfectly as a mismatch, Cain vs Leake. Just mixed up who had the advantage :sssh: Leake pitched great and had an impact at the plate, saying this not in complete seriousness, hit that guy leadoff! Newsflash: Rolen doesn't look good at the plate, sorry to break that news story. Nice game by Bruce, still don't know why he didn't slide at home. Sandoval clearly made a dirty play and I"m glad they got that call right. Latos vs Zito today, hoping for a good outing by Mr. Latos.
June 30, 201214 yr Cozart 6, Stubbs 8, Votto 3, Phillips 4, Bruce 9, Ludwick 7, Frazier 5, Hanigan 2, Latos RHP
June 30, 201214 yr Why should he have gotten tossed again? He was saying if the umps didn't rule Sandoval interfered, and give the Reds the double play Dusty needed to go off, and get tossed.

Not sure if it still stands, but the 9 spot was hitting for a higher avg than the 1 spot.
June 30, 201214 yr Not sure if it still stands, but the 9 spot was hitting for a higher avg than the 1 spot. Reds Batting 1st: .193 AVG, 13 RBI, .232 OBP Reds Batting 9th: .204 AVG, 18 RBI, .229 OBP Reds Pitchers: .182 AVG, 9 RBI, .197 OBP Mike Leake Career: 131 AB's, 16 Runs, 37 Hits, 4 Doubles, 2 HR's, 7 RBI's, .282 AVG, .357 OBP and .607 SLG Scott Rolen 2012: 125 AB's, 9 Runs, 23 Hits, 7 Doubles, 3 HR's, 16 RBI's, .184 AVG, .243 OBP and .312 SLG So the Reds pitchers have been as good at Hitting as the Reds Lead-Off Hitters thus far and Leake in his career in a similar sample size as Rolen this year is a much better hitter and probably top 5 on the entire team
June 30, 201214 yr Plan is the same with Rolen Scott Rolen was out of the lineup today. It was just a normal day off, i.e., the plan is to use him the same as he was used before going on to the disabled list. “We rest day after night,” Reds manager Dusty Baker said. “We’re hoping he gets his stroke here. He’s hit some balls good. His average isn’t indicative of that. Every year, you’ve got a tough-luck guy. He’s it. All everyone sees is the end result. Some guys get every blooper and chop through the infield you can get. “We’re hoping before he gets down about it — which I don’t feel he will — that he gets some breaks.” Rolen is hitting .184 overall. He’s hitting .212 (7-for-33) since returning from the disabled list. He’s 0-for-his-last-16 with eight strikeouts. Baker doesn’t think Rolen will hit if he plays less. “This is to preserve him for the end, so he’s strong,” Baker said. “Rarely is less more, especially when you’re trying to get your stroke. You can’t just look at now. You’ve got to look at his career. I’m into the big picture. Sometimes I’m into the small picture. But sooner or later, water seeks its own level. They get back to where they’re supposed to be — or at least pretty close.” Todd Frazier, who started at third base today, has cooled considerably as well. Frazier was 4-for-for-his-last-25 (.160) with 10 strikeouts entering today’s game.
