June 30, 201214 yr Wish Bruce would have slid there but tough to be upset with the night he's had thus far.
June 30, 201214 yr Jeff Brantley needs to wait before the umpire gives the signal before he broadcast whether the runner is safe or out. That's twice tonight. :madman:
June 30, 201214 yr Wish Bruce would have slid there but tough to be upset with the night he's had thus far. Was anybody telling him to get down?
June 30, 201214 yr Was anybody telling him to get down? Couldn't tell in the replay. Throw was a bit off, so Bruce tried to run a bit to the inside to avoid the tag but was unable to do so. If he dove head first he would have been safe.

June 30, 201214 yr Sure, go in feet first. Just score. I don't care if that's nose first. Especially with a wide open plate.
June 30, 201214 yr Doesnt want to see him get hurt is my guess Exactly. Still believe it ruined Austin Kearns. Never was the same.

Generally I don't like the idea of diving into home either, but there was no issue here. Catcher was off the plate, towards the outside (3rd base dugout). If Bruce would have taken a step inside and dove, he would have avoided any chance of contact. I don't think he slid because Bruce thought it would be difficult for Posey to catch the throw and reach him. Turns out he was mistaken.
June 30, 201214 yr Didn't see the play, so really hard to comment, just don't like the idea of players going into a catcher head first. Catcher was above the RH batters box. Plate was wide open. Seen tons of people slide into home plate both ways. Very few have gotten hurt but I've seen more ankle injuries sliding feet first than arm/hand sliding head first.
