August 8, 201412 yr Author Took a big plunge. Started on the first book in the "Song of Fire and Ice" series - A Game of Thrones. Gonna be tough for this old man to keep the cast of characters straight. Finally finished. Excellent read. Taking a break before starting the next in the series. Reading "Four", kind of an adjunct to the "Divergent" series.

August 11, 201412 yr Just started this one last night. First book by Dan Simmons that I've read. This one was originally published in 1991 & received considerable critical acclaim. I'm early into it, but it has a definite Stand By Me vibe, except there is a horror element involved. Very good so far.
August 27, 201412 yr Do yourself a favor and read "Fearless" about former Navy SEAL Adam Brown and the short life he lived. Inspiring and sad. The things that SEALs are asked to do is mind boggling.
