At least the absurdity of what was going on and his nonchalant reaction to it sort of balanced out the ominous nature of it. It was a page-turner. Looking forward to getting into more of it tonight. I think it could make a cool movie, but I hope they keep that absurd/humorous element and don't try to make it "frightening." At least, as far as the parts I've read.

October 27, 201411 yr Author Read several books in the past couple of weeks. A couple of J.A. Jance mysteries (3 starts out of 5), re-read Frank Herbert's "Dune" (still maybe the stand-alone sci-fi classic of all time; don't be jaded by that terrible movie); Also read a book I got for the wife - "Lost Highways" by Curtiss Ann Matlock. 2.5 stars out of 5; predictable "western romance" but the wife will love ity. Reading "Atlantis" by David Gibbins. May not finish - and I usually plow through to the bitter end; but this one's a Clive Cussler/Dirk Pitt wannabe cluttered with way too much speculative science and not enough action.
