July 28, 201412 yr Author Daughter gave me the first three books in the "Maze Runner" series by James Dashner. She says it's similar in some respects to the Hunger Games books. Those are next on the list. Finished reading this trilogy, It was similar to The Hunger Games but not quite as interesting. Not bad, though. 2 stars out of 4.

July 31, 201412 yr Author Took a big plunge. Started on the first book in the "Song of Fire and Ice" series - A Game of Thrones. Gonna be tough for this old man to keep the cast of characters straight.
July 31, 201412 yr I just finished Robert B. Parker's Wonderland by Ace Atkins, a Spenser novel. I have read all 42 of the series. I had never heard of Robert B Parker. Walked into my local book lending establishment and there was one on the recommended reading shelf. A Spenser novel. "Cheap Shot." Good read.

August 2, 201412 yr My son and I are about 3/4's finished with "Holes". Saw the movie several years ago, first time reading the book. We will watch the movie when we have finished the book. Just a really neat story.
