frankdracman23
Most starting pitchers used in a season? They used 15 last year in 2016. The record is 24. The "modern" record would be 1967 Mets at 20. No team has used 18 since 1996. Where do the Reds end up? Year Tm #Starters 1 1915 Philadelphia Athletics 24 2 1967 New York Mets 20 3 1955 Baltimore Orioles 19 4 1946 Philadelphia Phillies 19 5 1944 Brooklyn Dodgers 19 6 1935 Philadelphia Athletics 19 7 1919 Philadelphia Athletics 19 8 1915 St. Louis Browns 19 9 1996 Pittsburgh Pirates 18 10 1993 Cleveland Indians
Jim Schue
Already at 6 just a few weeks into the season. Gotta figure it will perhaps be 7 when Finnegan's next turn comes up.
ZJH
I don't think so, we've used 6 so far and 7 likely coming up with a Finnegan out, I'm thinking we'll use probably 10 or 11 no more than about 13 tho this season, because technically the only reason we're at 6 or 7 is because of injuries, when Bailey & Desclafani come back we can make it 9, and Stephenson, Reed, & Adleman might start at some point. plantmanky
Just a few years ago they only used 5.

The following are likely to make at least one start this year: 7. Homer Bailey 8. Anthony Desclafani 9. Cody Reed 10. Robert Stephenson Possibly Make a Start: 11. Tim Adleman 12. Michael Lorenzen 13. ColonelCrazy
Just listing those pitchers makes you realize why the Reds needed to give a couple veteran arms a chance to play. There are several talented prospects, but they're not capable of pitching 200 big league innings individually.
ColonelCrazy
To answer the question in the thread: No, the Reds will not break this record this year.
UKMustangFan
Others you can add to the "possible" category.....Jackson Stephens and Tyler Mahle...Still not going to break the record.
HammerTime
Just listing those pitchers makes you realize why the Reds needed to give a couple veteran arms a chance to play. There are several talented prospects, but they're not capable of pitching 200 big league innings individually. And some not even close. Only 15 guys threw over 200 innings last year.
