Fleming County has just enough passing to defeat Nicholas County, 21-8 (Scrimmage)

When this one was said and done two touchdown passes by Clayton Browning(6-181)would be the difference on the scoreboard. Browning overall did not have a great night. Unofficially I had him 7-17 with two 2TD passes and 2 INT'S. The one thing he showed in this one was if his line gives him the time to throw he can be very dangerous. I think the Bret Farve in him will have to have the reins pulled on hard to keep the picks down. When, if he hasn't already learn that it is better to throw the ball away or run it then he is going to cause major problems for a lot of secondaries. Again this is my thoughts on that and means little in the real world.

Just eleven seconds into this one Zach Richardson(5-8-150) took off on a twelve yard run.

Richardson would take off on a long run, at the 10:52 mark of the opening quarter, but a holding call negated the play.

The Blue Jackets would face fourth and three, with 8:44 left in the quarter and it would be Richardson picking up the first, in a large part do to the find work by his lineman.

The Fleming defense received a nice play from,Harrison Fryman (5-8-216)when he stopped Baily Obrien(5-10-170) on third and nine for no gain.

On fourth and nine at the 6:10 mark of the opening quarter the Blue Jackets elected to go for it and that turned out to be a huge mistake when,Sam Johnson(6-0-300) stopped Richardson way short of the first down marker.

With Fleming facing a fourth and four and 4:38 left in the quarter the Panthers elected to go for it. Browning would use his feet to pick up the first down.

Browning would connect with TJ Miller(5-10-162) for a fifteen yard pick up and another first down. with 3:30 left in the quarter.

Browning would make a bad decision on fourth and goal, with 2:02 left on the clock. He would throw a poorly thrown ball that JP Wagoner(6-3-165) to stop the dive and keep this game scoreless.

Just :59 was left in the entertaining opening quarter when Jordan Luna(6-3-280) lowered the boom on Richardson for a short loss.

The play of the quarter came with 35.8 seconds left when Nate Watkins(5-10-1750 showed an extra gear and galloped to a seventy-yard touchdown. Richardson would convert a two-point run to make this an,8-0 contest.

The second stanza did not start off good for Fleming County in a large part because of a dropped ball by Jaden Waller(6-0-162)on a pretty thrown ball by Browning.

The Panthers though would regroup as a team and have a huge quarter.

At the 10:45 mark Miller would dart to his right and then out run everyone on his way to a sixty-seven-yard score. Browning to Eugene Hamm(6-2-193) would lock this one up at eight.

Nineteen seconds later it would be the Panthers defense turn to shine. Tayler Carpenter(5-11-186) got to the ball carrier for a five-yard-loss.

Then a sack by Richardson took place with 9:49 left as the Fleming defense was starting to flex its muscles.

The Fleming offense would shine like the north star with 8:20left in the half. Browning would hook up with a speedy Tyus Taylor(5-11-147) on a forty-six yard score. Taylor was opened by a few steps and show soft hands taking the ball in and out running the closest defender with ease. This kid looks like he could be a very dangerous weapon on offense, if give the chance. The point after kick by,John David Adams(5-11-200) increased the lead to,15-8.

The Panthers defense once again came up big when,Nate Watkins(5-10-175) put the ball on the ground, when the pile was uncovered the refs signal Panthers ball.

Fleming almost gave the ball right back to the Bluejackets when Miller coughed it up but his teammate, Hamm pounced on it, with 4:36 left in the quarter.

With 3:09 left in the half Browning looked to have been able to run on fourth and one, but he elected to throw the ball. The pass was high and the Bluejackets took over on downs.

The Fleming defense made fast work of the running Nicholas offense and got the ball back to its own offense.

With 1:14 left Browning made like Cardale Jones by using his feet to pick up twenty-nine-yards.

From there it took only four seconds for the Panthers to score again. Browning would hook up with Zach Alexander on a twenty-seven-yard score. Alexander made a nice adjustment on the ball to make the catch. Adams connected on the point after kick to make this a,21-8 game.

The Blu Jackets would get on final nice play in the half when,Cody Moon(5-10-170) powered his way for a fourteen-yard gain. Making the stop on the play was,Hamm.

There would be no scoring in the final frame but there were some nice plays and the one thing I as a fan enjoyed was the way the Bluejackets kept trying even though on this night they just did not have the horses to come back.

With 11:09 left Miller would be stripped of the ball and getting it for the Bluejackets was,Richardson.

Then with 7:53 showing on the clocked Miller looked angry as he put a mean stick on Watkins, who fumbled the ball, making the recovery for the Panthers was,Tayler Carpenter(5-11-186)

Browning would throw a high ball in the direction of Hamm who made like stretch Armstrong to make the days best catch, with 6:54 left.

Browning would be under heavy pressure causing him to throw a pass that was picked of by, Wagoner.

Fleming County lost nearly everyone off last years team. I think they returned 3 offensive lineman and maybe 3 starters on defense. I know they lost all their skill kids. Sounds like they moved the ball but will have to get the Qb under control!

Nicholas Co's defense is the big concern in Carlisle according to those close to the team and it showed. Fleming Co picked up an easy score on a simple go route where the WR didn't have anyone within 5 yards of him.

Fleming did lose most everything on both sides of the ball. They have 9 SR's this season but 2 have never played before and only 3-4 got any playing time last season. They dressed 60 for the Grid but 40+ were Freshmen and Sophomores.
