This is the week that the rubber meets the road for Ohio County and they have to step up and play a very good Christian County team. I believe Christian County will win by 2 or 3 TDs.

With the exception of North Hardin, I don’t see OC being challenged until the semi-finals. OC wins big this week.

Why might that be?

The same is true for Fort Campbell. If the team that played last week against Christian County shows up against PT, it should be a good game. If the team that played Warren Central shows up.....it probably won't.

Fort Campbell’s biggest rival recently has been Owensboro Catholic, but that all changed this year when FC moved up to 3A. Prior to 2007 I think Trigg County was a bigger rival than OC and might be again since FC and Trigg are back in the same district. Of course there is always Fort Knox, the only other Army high school in the U.S., that play every year in the Army Bowl.

As long as Fort Campbell comes out and plays like they did against Christian County, despite the loss, the Falcons will win by a TD or more.

I’m not a big fan of “moral victories”, but if there is one for the Falcons this was it. Of course the Falcons wanted to win and they had their chances. Christian County is good team and made some stops when they really needed to. However, the Falcons played toe-to-toe with the Colonels all night. I don’t think the Falcons even had a penalty or turnover until halfway through the third quarter. Christian County’s run defense is very good so Fort Campbell went to the pass and found some success. They played much better on defense with the exception of a couple missed tackles on the corners which setup or allowed Christian County to score. Overall I left the game impressed with the way the Falcon’s played and looking forward to district play next week. This is what they needed, to play tough against a good opponent and play as a team.

I haven’t gone back and re-read every Fort Campbell thread from the past two years, but I don’t remember anybody saying that the 2010 or 2011 Falcons had the same level of talent as the 2008 / 2009 Falcons. What I have said is that they do have the talent to be better than they have been. Whether it’s leadership, fundamentals, teamwork, coaching etc… they just haven’t executed from start to finish. Stupid penalties, bad snaps, attitudes, poor tackling. As far as the team makeup, there have been several changes from last year. A Freshman, Williams, is now the QB and Hills is playing RB. At least two players that I know of who showed promises as Freshman/Sophomore, but didn’t play last year are back starting as Seniors. Several other Sophomores / Juniors who didn’t start last year are starting to step up and shine. Again, I’m not getting the comparison to the talent on the 08/09 teams? Like Bill said, maybe the 07 team in some regards, which I believe had one player go to WKU (as a walk on), one go to Murray, and one to Hanover. I could be missing one or two. I could see a similar amount of talent on this team. The 07 team started poorly, got it together, and made the run to state. I can see this team doing the same, if they can get it together.
