Wow, 12 players less than the roster on KHSAA. Hard to compete with 18 players, but kudos to those who stuck it out.

Looking at KHSAA Caverna has 30 players, so if only 7 parents traveled and assuming each represented one player that leaves 77% of the team’s parents didn’t travel. If 2, 3 or 4 of those 7 were the same family, that’s even worse. Pretty sad IMO. Not to mention the seniors, I couldn’t imagine not watching my son play his last high school game ever. Obviously, the long drive and having to get off work early is a factor, but for ¾ of the team parents? With support like that it will be even tougher to climb out of the 1-10 type seasons.

Everything I’ve heard and read is that Edmonson County is a run first, run second, and usually run third type team. This should play into Fort Campbell’s defensive strength since they are better against the run than against the pass. Edmonson does have home field advantage and comes into this game undefeated, but they’ve had to win in overtime against their better opponents. Fort Campbell comes in at 7-4 having lost to two top five 5A teams, a decent TN 5A team, and Paducah Tilghman. In 3 of their 4 losses FC either led in the 3rd quarter or was within one score, but failed to finish strong. However, they have won their last four games by a total of 226-0, but all four were against weak competition. One major concern, at least last week, is turnovers. I believe the Falcons turned the ball over 6 times and although they still won 41-0 I doubt that would be the case against Edmonson or any 3rd or 4th round team. With the exception of turnovers, the Falcon offense is looking good with Hills at QB and several receivers who are really starting to make some plays. The keys to the game for Fort Campbell will be to not turn the ball over and stop Edmondson’s potent running attack. If they do that I believe the Falcons win by at least a TD.

Way too many turnovers by the Falcons, but a shutout win never the less. The defense played great and a couple of really nice catches on offense to augment a potent running game. They just need to take care of the football, especially from here on out to keep advancing. On to Brownsville.

Not sure exactly, but after Coach Clayton left they had a couple of good years under Jones when Curtis Pulley was there and have since been on a steady decline. Maybe the emergence of Christian County has had something to do with it or the coaching changes over the last decade?

Glasgow wins big.

I fully expect Fort Campbell to win this week against a struggling Hopkinsville team. I just hope they can sub early and keep everyone healthy for the playoffs. Also, if Fort Campbell wins, this will be Coach Berner’s 100th victory.

I noticed that Henderson County plays at Ballard in the top bracket and home against Southern in the bottom half, both on November 4th. Wow, they must be good to play split squad in the first round.
