Fort Campbell takes on Christian County. Who wins?

Tough test for Fort Campbell on the road at 5A CC. Can the Falcons keep this one close? Can they win it?

Christian County. Easy.

I can't go against my Falcons....but they've got to play a whole lot better than they have been.....even in the victories.

FC has the talent to win against the Colonels, but they would have to play a near perfect game to get it done. FC is familiar with the Colonels by virtue of proximity, playing the Colonels at the freshman, JV, seven on seven, last season's Jamboree, every other sport etc....

 

I am surprised by both teams this season; CC surprises me that they graduated some superior talent from last year's 5A runner-up squad & somehow they have reloaded and are better this season. FC surprises me that two years after Antonio Andrews graduated, the Falcons are still suffering from the hangover as nobody has taken over as the team leader.

 

CC is by far the favorite, no doubt about it & the game is at the Stadium of Champions.

 

We will see how this one goes, but don't expect a repeat of the Warren Central game - those results happen about once a decade.

 

This will be the only game I won't be cheering for the Colonels as they navigate their path to the first weekend in December.

Fort Campbell has a nice ball club. Coming off the bus they would intimate most teams by their tall well put together athletic size. Man they got some good looking kids. Seems to be a trend this year more than I can recall in recent memory that many teams in WKY are very young. Campbell fits that bill. Freshmen QB and several others other playing alot. That youth caught em against WC. Alot better team than they show.

I expect a good competitive game with many big plays from both teams. By playing some of the top 5a teams in the state Fort Campbelll should be ready to take on Trigg County their most meaningful game of the year in a couple of weeks.

Christian County by 3 TD's.

This should be one of the better games this week. Christian Co. in a close one.

The Falcons have the talent to be a much better team than they have shown so far. They have some very good skill players on both sides of the ball, but they just don’t execute on every play or as a cohesive group IMO. Can they compete with Christian County? Yes, but will they execute without the turnovers, poor coverage, and penalties?

 

My hope is that regardless of the outcome this Friday is that they play tough and as a cohesive team heading into the last, and the important, half of their schedule. If they execute they can beat County, but more importantly they can steadily improve heading into district play against Trigg and PT.

It all comes down to discipline for FC. One game you see flashes of Falcon football, next game you just have to shake your head at the garbage ball, next game a senior decides to play near his potential and scores three TDs in a span of a couple of minutes. It is mind-numbing to say the least.

 

I hope #57 gets up on the wrong side of the bed Friday and takes his frustrations out on the Colonel offense. He has the ability to be a game changer from the LB position just as former Falcon Josh Carter was a couple of years ago. He is a physical beast.
