As bad as Newport played, they could have won the game. the Cats missed about 10 lay-ups and threw the ball away at least 20 times, and could have won the game at the end! Good luck both teams!!

The freshman teams in NKY are really fun the watch there are some good teams and some great talents. One of the best classes I have seen in a while! Good Luck fellows!!

Big win for the Breds!! The Geisler kid is a brut. They have alot of talent and are very well coached. Mango should get out there and show them some moves!! (lol) IMO they should be as good as anyone in the Regionals. Good Luck!

Newport's young and don't seem to have alot of players that can score, add coach Schlarman's physical Def. and great front court players it may get out of hand. But, I have seen some strange things happen in the past when these two schools have met. Like in the district in baseball last year and some choice football games in the distant past. Who is the Wildcats Offensive coordinater? IMO, Newport should get a whole new coaching staff. I think the front office needs to take a different approach to try to build a program to match their new field and new conference. No disrespect attended to anyone, I just think they need to try something different.

#9 for BG in the State Championship game was one of the hardest hitters, and best open field tacklers I seen all year!

Coach Middleton has done a fine job in such a short time. Look for both the Ilg brothers (Jacob 215 and Nathen 187) to be state qualifiers!!

Newport has a very talented team this year. IMO, I think that the Housley kid is one of the top three players in the 9th region!!

No disrespect to the great football teams throughout the bluegrass. But why can't everyone just admit that the Highlands Bluebirds was the best high school football in the state this year?

Well said g11. I seen the 6A Championship, and there is no doubt in my mind that the Bluebirds could have beat T or X. I'm not really a Highlands fan just love high school football, IMO Highlands Bluebirds had the best team in the state this year in 2007!!!!

Congrats!! To the Bluebirds for the perfection 15-0 5A State champs. And they beat the 3A state champs, 4A state champs, defending 3A champs, and 4A runner-ups, and then beat the big Ohio powerhouse Troutwood, Madison. I think that you can say Highlands is the #1 team in the state!!!!

I think the time has come, that they could play with these teams as well. I hope Highlands gets the chance to play Colerain, Elder, or St. X. So they can get in on the National rankings.

They were all champions of their time, and they were all great teams. It's hard to compare. But the one thing you can say about the 2007 team, is their depth!! If someone went down or needed a break they could replace them with a player as good as the one they took out, with out breaking stride.

The thing is I dont think any team in the state has won as many State Titles in the fewest years. So, root for what ever team you want, and let everyone try to figure out how to stop Beechwood.

IMO the journey to win state in 2008 starts tommorrow, I know a couple of next years players that are working out tom. That's dedication!!

You know, It would just be wonderful to see these powerhouses compete, at lease in seasonal play. Espsecially, now that the next two Bluebird teams know that they have some of the best athletes in the state. And, that they have Mr. Kentucky football with Joshua Connor on their team. Good luck! All of these teams represent the Bluegrass well, they could play with any team in the Nation.

Congrats to the Highlands Bluebirds for a wonderful season. I have watch these youngmen prepare for this season and the work ethics, dedication to try to be Champions and the first class bunch of guys that they are. I 'm not surprized at all, that they have pulled this off, and went undefeated (15-0), The first ever Class AAAAA State Champs.

Josh Connor for Highlands. It's important that he has a big game, just in case BG does score on the Bird's few times. Connor seems like he always steps it up a notch in the big games. Look for him to score 2 or 3 times and pass for one. Good Luck Both Teams!
