Things are different these days in Northern Ky HS football. The Highlands Bluebirds are starting to get some credit and respect throughout the Tri-state. They were talking about them the other day on national TV!! The next couple years they are really going to produce some D1's

Anyone that knows the Bluebirds personel for the next couple years, knows this could very easy become a reality. Well, IMO I would'nt be surprised if someone don't make a TV program about them like they did with Hoover, Alabama!!! I hope I did'nt offend anyone or jinx the program, my daughter is a cheerleader and I just enjoy watching the games.

Newport has two of the best freshman in region. Nair Johnson ( I may have the last name wrong) , and Melvin Calhoun. These boys can flat get it done, But they need a qualified coach. I don't mean any disrespect to anyone its just opinions. How does Newport pick there sports coaches?? The AD needs to take control, they have great players in all the main 3 sports, they just need someone yo lead them.

Is the NKYFL Guru, Keith Culp the QB coach?? If he is that explains why the back-up did that well. Watch what he does with Michael Kramer!!

Trinity better keep the pace up the next two years, Because the Birds are going to win a "Threepeat". I look for the birds to go 15-0 in 2008, then really be good in 2009 with the best team in the history of Highlands and about seven D1 players. Then to put the icing on the CAKE! They will be Nationally ranked about 6th. with a 45 game winning streak!!! Good Luck!!! To all the teams throughout the state, this is a good thing for the Bluegrass state!!!

We know that Tony G. will be recruited by D1 schools all over the country. Cody Rosenhagen 1st team all-state def lineman. And if the birds win the 5A State championship again I honestly think that Josh Connor will be Mr. Kentucky Football. Anyone else???

"Rosie" was amazing this year and played a big part in the State Championship. IMO if he gets serious about the weights and takes SR leadership, he should be one of the best Def. lineman in the STATE! This youngman stands about 6'2" 265lbs and is quick and fast, He is most definetly D1 prospect.

It should really be exciting watching Highlands QB-Tony Guidugli throwing the football around next year. The Birds have so many great receivers Bardo, Collingsworth, Roller, Buten, Turner and Rosenhagen. Of course, then you would have to stop their rushing attack of Josh Connor, Oliver Head, Clint Crawford, Alford and Fennel.

If these boys are getting a good education and if they do play sports and it betters the youngman's chances of getting a scholarship, I say good luck!! Some of the posters act like they are scared of this Travis Alford kid!! The KHSAA makes rules and now let the kids play and at there own level set by the State.

Did Alford play youth football in the NKYFL as a 15 year-old? I thought the age requirements was 13?

Newport has hired some wonderful coaches in the past. Mike Murphy, Roy Lucas, and Schlarman. What's his name don't count and I'm not talking about Hyder. I think that the front office should ante up and get a quality head coach and staff, and managers. BTW as far as I know, Mr. Hyder is a teacher and a wonderful baseball coach he should get the Varsity job when Grady Brown finally retires. No disrespect to anyone.

The top three, Now thats amazing Beechwood, Trinity, and Highlands they have won state every other year for the last 16-17 years. Pretty impressive!!!
