I will have to agree with you on that statement. William and Jacob will both have a legit shot at the qb position. My uneducated guess will be that Tony will start Spring ball as the leading qb and it will be up to Tony to keep the starting position. The competition amongst the three gifted athletes will only make each other stronger, faster, swifter! As mentioned by serveral posters, it should be exciting Spring football in Ft Thomas. ... good luck to the entire Highlands squad.

He won't play enough to even get a serious look. imo!!!! Backtrack this year and ask yourself why all of a sudden Tony G. stop playing QB all together. Heck, at least he would of played all the JV snaps to get the kid some qaulity snaps for the future.

Look at this years class. 1 D1, maybe 2. I see 1 next year, maybe. If Dempsey increases his numbers in the weight room, he may have a shot. D1 is all about size, and speed and numbers.

It really doesn't matter how you play. If you are 6'5" / 240+ they will "make" you a player at the next level. There's also a spot for you if you run 4.4 or less. Saw some names of players that HHS kids just whipped this year on the all star teams. HHS traditionally is about team goals and not individuals.

...don't forget the outstanding year Michael Laber produced! Bigger better things are expected for next year. D-1? Maybe not...size prohibited. All state? Possibility...releentless on D-line. Yet to be seen is what his role will be next year. Rosie, too, may be asked to assume a different role. Dempsey may see some defensive time...Roller could be a tight end...Collinsworth a wide out (there's a "stretch" lol). Both of those gentlemen could develop to D-1. Tyler Grubbs has D-1 line size...but how bad does he want it? Spring will be quite interesting in Ft. T.

Question: How many Div 1A players were on their best teams Recently? How many were on the '96 through '00 squads? The 2003 team?

I don't consider HHS to be a "hotbed" of D-1 players. The success of the program has everything to do with players that commit themselves to a team, coach, program and tradition. Take Trotwood as a recent example of a team that had numerous D-1 prospects. They had no where near the success that HHS had this year. A true team is about the entire group of players playing for the same goal(s). That said, there are about 3 or 4 in-coming Seniors that should be able to continue playing football at some college level.

Everytime a thread is started about Highlands D1/Strongest players or whatever someone always brings this up. I think everyone gets it that Bardo will challenge Guidugli but like LN said in another thread (STrongest Players returning thread) Tony is the front runner and Bardo will have to beat him out. Regarding the thread, I dont think there are any D-1 caliber players coming back next year.

 

Josh Conner is a stud but D-1 I dont think so. Rosenhagen is verrrry good also but the D-1 offers are not going to be flying in. These kids can probably play D-2 or D-1AA and get a great college education. If I had to hang my hat on anyone it would be Guidugli and that is simply due to his name and his size. If he can blow the doors off next year with unbelievable stats I see him getting a look but I cant even see that happening with the strong rushing attack coming back.

 

Sorry to say but the next D-1 recruits to come out of Highlands wont be til 2009 when Brandon Roller and Austin Collinsworth play their final season. These two have all the tools for D-1 now, I just think they need a little more size.

The competition for the qb position is unlike the competition for any other starting position on football teams. Highlands is not any different. I would venture to say the three studs fighting for the starting position are in speed camps, working with personal qb coaches and going above and beyond the weight and conditioning that the rest of the team is going through right now... so when I mentioned stronger, swifter, faster, (the Olympic motto) I believe that will be the result the first day of Spring ball. The level and type of competition for the qb position at HHS cannot be patented... you have to earrrrrrrn it!

Might have something to do with someone saying Tony was going to Elder next year... that was being said throughout the entire season including it being repeated by a relative at the Bowling Green game.

 

I do recall Tony playing in the 2nd Qtr. , or at the very least, the entire second half of the four games leading to the state playoff game. In fact, I can only remember two games that Tony did not get the opportunity to enter, Central and Bowling Green. Unless I missed something... I don't think Tony ever stopped seeing game action.

 

Besides, considering the quality of play Jake Turner displayed in the JV games, many were expecting Jake to get the snaps in the varsity games.
