I watched the game and can say that the LB #5 for Boyle was definitely as good as advertised. I hate to say it but Boyle was the better team tonight (barely). They are balanced on offense and have talent everywhere. JC played very well and showed that they have some really talented players. The run up the middle was shut down all night long by Boyle. JC had to fight for every yard against this defense. The Boyle players never gave away an inch of turf. It was really fun to watch this defense play. As far as JC is concerned allot of the people posting on here were exactly right when they said the the first and second half would be two different games. The JC players especially the RB's and QB were cramping up in the second half. It was literally every three or four plays that they were on the ground with leg cramps. To be fair some Boyle players also had problems but they seemed to be a little less affected. Although Boyle was leading at the half it seemed that JC really won the first half. Boyle had a 96 yard run and a drive with less than a minute that consisted of some long pass plays. The rest of the first half JC really seemed to control the game. The second half was the opposite. It seemed to me that Boyle dominated the ball but somehow JC stayed in the game. These young men really wanted to win this game at home and they played their hearts out. Boyle was just to well rounded. The tight end for JC is as good as I've ever seen in this area. He is a ligit D1 kid. Also Bratten for JC is much better then I realized. That kid can hit and is as good a defensive player as there is around here.

On both lines how many starters were starters last year? I know that the RB graduated but I really haven't heard about the lineman. That seems to be were it takes the most time for kids to gel...

I actually thought of that before posting this and I think it's good for JC to be playing this one early in the year and at home. The Defense and especially the linebackers for Boyle are the best that JC will see this year and the only way I'd give them a chance of scoring this much is if the defense for Boyle hasn't quite gotten used to the few new starters this year. I understand that Boyle could walk in here and blow out JC worse then last year, but I really don't think most people understand how much this team has changed and grown since then. They are faster and stronger at allot of positions and I HOPE this comes as a suprise to the Boyle players that remember last year? Like I said i am definitely bias but at least I am up front about it....

I think JC will win this one 35-21. The JC running game will be much, much better then what Boyle saw last year. As you can see from my name I'm definitely bias (J.J.Jude is a relative) and I don't care to admit it. But the good thing about this offense is that they have at least 3 really good backs that would all probably start for most teams. Look for a consistent running attack from JC as usual. Hope I'm not wrong.

I think a state mandated video about proper hydration would help to educate the players. Show them some clips of players that have had de-hydration problems and lived talking about what the symptoms are and what their hospital visit was like. Have some Doctors talking about the methods of detecting and treating it. Make this video a mandatory thing just like the physical with the same penalties in place if it's not watched. If the state won't make and mandate a video like this then maybe the powers that be at BGP should try to put something together? I know there are some Doctors on this site and I know there are some video GURUS. Just a thought? I know the coaches at LC have a great program of weighing at every practice and educating players but I think all the teams would use a video like this voluntarily even if not mandated.

I know our coaches will know once he starts but the kid asked me what he could expect and instead of guessing I told him i'd just ask the experts..... The reasoning makes since especially in light of the past fatalities due to heat stroke.

Once a new player has taken a physical when can they practice?

Johnson Central and Ashland in my opinion are the obvious elite in this group. Let me be the first (or one of the first) to predict that JC will lead the state in rushing if they stay healthy. I'd put LC third because that coaching staff really is building this program back to what it used to be. I started to take Raceland off completely just to watch Ram go through the roof.. :lol: I just couldn't do it though. They really are going to be a good team but noone on this list will be in Ashland or JC's class this year. 1. Johnson Central 2. Ashland 3. Lawrence County 4. Rowan County 5. Raceland 6. Russell 7. I plan on making the trip to watch the Raceland kid this year. I hear he really should be fun to watch. How big is he?

As seems to always be the case with JC the running game is going to be good again, but the passing game will need some work. With a couple of good young RB's it will be fun to see how many yards these guys can rack up.

EVERY highlands fan has to admit that at halftime they were a little suprised by how well JC was moving the ball. EVERY JC fan has to admit that it is very obvious that Highlands deserves all the props and kudos they are being given by their fans. They made the adjustments at halftime and dominated the second half. Great job by a great team that is 2 weeks away from another title. Congratulations!!! By the way, I decided to slow roast my crow and eat it with some stuffing and cranberries.:notworthy:

Congratulations. This team has some of the most faithful fans out there and I'm happy to see you all have a chance to keep cheering your team.

Before it comes up from another LC fan I want to defend some of the KC players that got into a little tit-for-tat arguement with the LC Fans in the fourth quarter. I was standing behind the endzone as usual and some of the fans shouted things such as "get your bus warmed up you've got a long ride home", "got dog bit didn't you", "don't worry you can try again next year". Someone specifically yelled "Hey #54" before the try next year comment. Myself and some other fans spoke up and even pulled some of these people aside to tell them to show some more respect to these kids. While these particular comments weren't abusive or threatening they were disrespectful and unnessesary to a group of teenage boys that had to be heartbroken at the time. I want to personally apologize to the players, coaches and fans of KC for this occuring. When you have a thousand fans at a game you will always have 4 or 5 idiots. With that being said #54 and some other players turned around and waved their arms up as if to say keep it coming we can handle it. I NEVER heard any player say anything inappropriate or rude to the fans. They never acted mean or rude. They handled it very, very well considering how loud the LC fans were and how upset they had to be. I left the field with about 9 seconds left in game but I was told that the principal of KC was so upset had to be "talked to" by the police after the game, but I did not see this for myself.

I got laughed at almost as much when JC was 0-4 and I said that they would win their district. They won it. I got laughed at when I said they would beat Ashland. Beat'em I got laughed at when I said that they would beat a Belfry team that they have never beaten. Beat'em I have the utmost of respect for Highlands, but my opinion is right there in black and white. I do really enjoy messing with the bird faithful but this prediction is my true opinion. I'll eat crow if need be, but there is just something about this team that the record and scores just don't show. I would have thought that the Highlands fans would have learned that last year at Johnson Central?

I'm taking JC by 12 if they can take care of the ball. The fumble bug has been a real problem with this team. If they can overcome that then they will suprise the Highlands faithful. If they have more than 1 lost fumble then they will have a hard time beating Highlands.

One person emailed me and said that they thought East Carter had done it, but I can't find any record of that or anyone to confirm it. Unless someone can give me some information to state otherwise I would have to say this is the greatest turnaround in the history of KY high school football.

As a long time loyal Lawrence County fan I can say without a doubt this is the real test that will let the players, coaches and fans really know how good this team is. Early in the year I would have said that the soft schedule made some fans a little over-confident, but as I've watched these players the last few weeks I'm starting to really have confidence that this team is truly special. Yes I'm drinking the kool-aid. These players are really as skilled as the record indicates. As you can see from my past posts I don't inflate our teams true skill level. I call it like I see it even if that means saying that my team will lose. However I just don't think this is the week that will happen. I really believe this will be our toughest test of the year and it might be a VERY close game till the 4th qtr but in the end this team just has too much depth and talent to lose this week.
