  1. I know in the 10th and 11th region that the pay for varsity is 60.00 and jv 55.00 I believe for a full 7 innings. Alot of the V/jv games are played a 7 and a 5 due to time frames. Also if they the jv game is scheduled for 5 innings according to rule thats all they play. If they play on and someone gets hurt then it falls back on the umpires and not the coach because they played on. Alot of jv games I have seen this year they have been playing 3 outs or 3 runs which ever comes first, then also I have seen free subbing and both teams bat all there players. The main thing is safety and I'm pretty sure by rule if it says 5 thats all you play.
  2. The correct call would be that with the ball being lodged in the players uniform and it happening as said above. The ball is dead and the runner gets second and third. The reason why is where the runner is at time of pitch.
  3. From my understanding the appeal still has to be verbalized by the players or the coach. So in this case the umpire got it right because if he goes on and calls it and it would happen to be the other umpires call then he has now created chaos for both coaches and his partner.
  4. 2001 Nicholas Co. outlasted Bourbon Co. in District and then Clark Co. in the region and then beat Pulaski Co. in the sectional to advance to state tournament
  5. Yes, that's correct it would be an inninig double play. But after play has stopped time doesn't have to be called for the defensive team to make the appeal. You have live and dead ball appeals. My other point is I wouldn't want to be the umpire who is going to catch all the heat from making a call like that and not getting out of there in 5 innings.
  6. You can't tell me that the Barker kid at Clark Co. couldn't play at Harrison you must have some serious issues or personal problems. If I'm not mistaken the topic is some of the players to watch in the 100th region and here you are putting kids down because they couldn't play for Harrison Co.
  7. I'm gonna go out on a limb and put Jordan Mynear jr., Kyle Campbell soph., will definitely be two of the top players in 10th. The Barker kid at Clark Co. should also be mentioned. Woodruff at Campbell pretty good pitcher.
  8. Heard through the grapevine at boys state tournament that Terrance Brooks of Paris was told the job was his if he wanted it. Just a little more insight to add to the stirring of the pot.
  9. I also saw a few games this year and Nicholas Co. problems evolve around no height and nothing else to go with Campbell. Also the guards are very weak and not alot of strength. And from what I've been told there is not much coming next year other than a couple of 8th graders with I think one of them named Pope who is supposed to be pretty decent. All and All Nicholas Co. needs to put something in the water seems they get smaller every year.
  10. I like the picks everyone has put in so far but I still like Nicholas Co. in the pre-season hunt somewhere. They return alot of the same kids from last year. Will have decent pitching and a little better defense this year. Hitting will be the only weakspot on this club.
  11. It is all about who wants to fork out the money. Small schools can't afford three man crews at 55.00 a pop when you pay 70.00 for two officials so if you play a Varsity boy/girl doubleheader your talking 330.00 for 6 officials vs. 280.00 for two officials. Alot of the times that is half the gate at small schools.
  12. Happened in the Campbell vs. Harrison game bout 3yrs.ago Same scenario. It is a timing play so the catch is the 2nd out run scores before the third out, the run is good. The ball that hits the pitcher and then the umpire is a live ball, must take result of the play. However if umpire gets hit before a fielder touches it it is a dead ball and runner are awarded accordingly.
  13. I don't know how much of a run they'll make bu Nicholas Co. returns a good nucleus of players. They lost the outfield and the big pitcher but return everybody else. Besides Harrison being the favorite in the 38th all Nicholas has to do is beat Deming and Pendleton to get in to the region. I know the Mynear kid pitches along with Campbell, Reid the first baseman will throw some also the Fryman kid pitches some. So shouldn't be too bad.
  14. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Coach Sosby and the Bo. Co. girls.
  15. Yes the call is right. The ball was fielded by the fielder and as long as there was no interference by the runner then the runner advances safely.
  16. I agree with those picks as the front runners in the tenth. I think a little should be said for Nicholas Co. They lost there outfield and the livingood kid that pitched but have a pretty good nucleus coming back with Mynear and Campbell on the hill. All the infield is back and the outfield shouldn't be hard to replace. Granted there no powerhouse but all it takes to get out is to beat Pendleton or Deming because of seeding. Should do pretty well this year.
  17. So what about Nicholas Co? From some of the other posts looks like Nicholas doesn't even get a smell. They took Harrison to the buzzer at home and beat Pendleton in the district. With a young, new, college experienced coach, should be alot of fun this year. They return everybody except for the Wilson twins which the Sosby cousins step up and have big shoes to fill that void. Then you have Bretz, Mitchell, Messick, and Humphries to build with which all have Varsity experience.
  18. In my opinion if there was a year to figure out which gym would be suitable for the 10th Region Tourn. this would be the year to do it with the 10th Region being somewhat a little down this year. It's obvious in other posts that Mason Co. will be ahead of everybody this year, but who knows tourney time rolls around and anything can happen.
  19. Heard yesterday that my sources were right. The new girls basketball coach is Jennifer Cornett the assistant coach at Union College took the job.
  20. heard Mac not even in the running. heard one of the assistants, Jody Hamilton at West Jessamine, and one other one I think from G-town
  21. I think you misconstrued what I was trying to say. It's not the fact that there is that much teaching going on as much as just trying to keep them playing together all summer. There boys just came back from camp and I know they have games scheduled all summer long. As far as the girls are concerned Its just good for them to get to go to camp. Hopefully Nicholas Co. won't wait to much longer in find a coach but until that happens I think you have to commend the boys coach for what he is trying to do.
  22. At least they are getting in the gym!!!!! What does it matter who has them in the gym as long as there is teaching going on !!! I would think who ever takes over the job would be glad someone took the time to work with them!!!
  23. just saw the news on cahnnel 27 in a post game interview.
  24. After losing 10-0 today against Dunbar, Coach Allison has decided to retire after 40 yrs. This is a huge blow to baseball and also the Tenth Region. Seems Harrison and Clark game won't have the same meaning.
