Last night was one of the busiest nights in the region as to the number of games and officials needed. A large number of district game that needed 3 officials. Assigner worked out the what he thought was best.

Some of the pool games were a bit lopsided but the out of pool matchups for the placings were great, largest margin of victory 5 points. Great games all day.

Unless the player is severely injured (blood or head injury) or in immediate danger then play should not be stopped until the advantage is over. If the coach doesn't come onto the floor then the player doesn't have to leave the game. If a player pulls that kind of play then in my opinion he should be assessed a penalty (techinal foul) for committing an unsportsmanlike act.

Based on the Simon Kenton score from Saturday I would say that the Friday game may have gotten both of them. Must have been to tough one...

Have enough trouble in some gyms getting someone to run the game clock properly much less add in the decision making required in resetting a shot clock. A number of gyms will not have space to put someone else at the table. When it become mandatory for schools to have the wireless system used by colleges and the officials start and stop the clock then it becomes discussable.

Turnovers from Oldham's press killed Trimble County. Trimble did okay when able to run their half court sets.

All of the double digit losses were 2-5 points with roughly 2 minutes to go when shots didn't fall and the opponents shot well at the free throw line.

I give you that a lot of those are missed. In today's game of really pressuring the ball you don't get a lot of those looks because everyone is bodying up. You don't see much "coming across the lane" to get clean blocks.

I would bet that the greatest majority of blocked shot fouls are called because of contact on the torso not what happens with the hands. The other night there was a great block off the hand (in a girls game) and a foul was called, the defender also had her other hand in the middle of the shooters chest. That is a foul. The fan in the stand is not always looking at the entire picture. See how many referees report pushes or holds and not hacks. I could go on but won't.....

Can't win if you don't score (i.e. somebody on the team better be able to put the ball in the basket) but if you can't stop someone from scoring you can't win either. Who is the player who steps up and gets that important rebound? Who is the one that stops the ball in the last few seconds of a one possession game? Who stuggles most on the college level - the one with the poorer defensive skills...

CAL 31 - Carroll 20 Final -

Incorrect statement - There is no team or player possession during a throw-in. You are where you are and lifting the back foot off the floor doesn't place you in frontcourt until that foot actually touches frontcourt meeting the requirement of all three in frontcourt. You can legally pass the ball to someone who is fully in backcourt. You see it more often on the opening jump ball.

This scenerio is nothing different that if I was in backcourt and passed the ball forward to a teammate who had one foot in frontcourt and other in the air and the ball rebounded into backcourt. He is considered to be in front court so it would be a violation.

This just the rule that places the ball in bounds under the basket for the violation.

Preventative officiating would allow the clock to run as long as there wasn't any contact.

The throw-in ends when the passed ball touches, or is legally touched by, another player who is either inbounds or out of bounds (4-45-2) On the over the end-line jump ball the throw had not ended AP stays where it is. Master of the Hardwood may not agree but over time the AP evens everything out. Somedays it goes with you and some days its goes against you.

The use of artificial noise makers are prohibited at all NHSF sanctioned sports. This included airhorns, whistles, etc.

FYI Cooperstown - They have reduced the number of balk opporunities in FED.

Appeared to tweek the hurt ankle early in the game.
