I'm not sold on the fact it gives the defense an advantage. I don't have the stats but my general impression at the college level there have been more offensive rebounds than in past years. Boucher has state tournament data that shows the defense gets a huge majority of the rebounds from bottom spots and that is a major reason the rule hasn't been changed for high school

If you did a survey I would say less than 10% wear a supporter. Don't know how they stand it :creepy:

Shirts come untucked because the players refuse to tie their shorts up and then blouse them so there is only about 3 inches holding them in. If society had maintianed levels of respect and decency then the referees wouldn't be fashion police. Who wants to see some kids shorts at their ankles and I much prefer seeing underwear at the Victoria's Secret fashion show than most of a sweaty high schooler's boxers. We have gone reverse, basketball shorts were short and if you look at some of the old pictures you could see the bottom of cheeks now you see the crack from the top.

It is up to each individual policy board to vote if they are staying in or going out with officials for the distict and regional tournaments. KHSAA decides who call the state tournaments.

Dunlap's name was missing from their last game's line score. Can't imagine him not scoring in any game.

If you are concentrating on the game then you don't hear the crowd, laugh if you want, most of what officials hear is during timeouts and other dead balls. Most is quite humorous as the fans don't know what they are talking about for the most part. Why do you think a number of places only allow positive cheering if you want to stay for the contest. As far as your job one suggestion - monster.com :jump: lol

When players shoot 100% from the floor and free throw line, never make a turnover and a coach never raises his voice about anything, then you can complain about the officiating all you want. The point being no one is is ever perfect. I have never seen an official change a pivot foot, travel, miss a free throw or a short arm a wide open break away layup in any game. I have never seen an official ask a coach why did you stay in zone about three possesions too many or why did you bunny hop on the shot. So why do you constantly blame the officials for someone's inability to complete plays or poor discissions? I would love to have officials show up at your workplace and scream at you about any perceived mistake that you make performing your job.

I'm not sure the small schools would have enough players to go 36-40 minutes a night. 16 minute halves might lessen the pain of two "last minutes" per game. In addition of coaches not being able to call timeouts (70% of the time when the time-out is officially recognized with the whistle the ball ends up being loose or in flight) and take away the coaching box and make the coaches sit the whole game. It is getting to the point where you could call "T" for 6 on the floor at any time. Teams play better when coaches coach period. The one comment about coaches getting the crowd into the game then why do teams have cheerleaders?

I just finished Ken Kaiser's book, Planet of the Umps. (very entertaining). He commented that umpires (applies to all officials) are there so that coaches and players have someone to blame for their mistakes and inability to complete the play. Officials are not the only ones that can make a difference in the quality of the game.

Carroll had looks in the 3rd quarter but the ball wouldn't fall. A tribute to Anderson's defense as some of the shots were rushed.

One would hope that all would be disgusted with the lack of flow and try to play a better game. To be honest I can't see the involved parties agreeing to call an entire year or two of 2hour games.

Contact which occurs unintentionally in an effort by an opponent to reach a loose ball, or contact which may result when opponents are in equally favorable positions to perform normal defensive or offensive movements, should not be considered illegal, even though the contact may be severe. Article 3. Similarly, contact which does not hinder the opponent from participating in normal defensive or offensive movements should be considered incidental. With players that are stronger and faster and in split-second decisions there will not be things called. I do agree with the contact inside the lane getting outrageous at times. I have officiated one of the 99 free throw games (55-44) that took 2:15 to play and they are no fun too.
