Looks pretty good, only one in first round that may change outcome for tourny could be Elliott vs. Boyd, that one could go either way. Selby is a matchup problem for Elliott, as he is for most teams in the region.

Should be an excellent game that will be won by whichever team dictates the tempo. If Boyd can keep the score low and get Selby involved, and he must stay out of foul trouble, Boyd could win. If the game is uptempo and above the high 50's I think that favors Elliott County. I would love to see Phil Pratt come out with a win on this one, he is a class act and so deserving of a big victory.

I am sorry for being wrong on the name, I knew it was Saint something. Either way he was a very good player and athlete and was better than Vanhoose, in my humble opinion.

There is no comparing the region of now to the region back then. Much weaker now and watered down. Oh, Jeff Tipton of Ashland was better, I forgot to mention him.

I agree, Russell is still a very big threat to return to Rupp. With Blair, Gill, Frazier and Robinson they still have some very good players. Anyone that overlooks the Devils may be going home.

He played for St. Joseph, and he was the best player on those Boyd County teams, he graduated in 1981 if I am not wrong.

Well, I saw Sisler light up Georgetown and they won a national championship and I would feel pretty comfortable saying that Jonathan would have had a very hard time scoring on the Hoya's at that time. Once again, please don't take my posts as trashing him, far from my intent. But there is no way on this earth that he is top five in this regions history, not even in the last 20 years.

Sisler was an outstanding player and athlete. He was athletically head and shoulders above Jonathan and played D1 as well. Layne was a great point guard and Mullins was a great player when the region was much better and deeper as a whole. At that time Ashland, Russell and Greenup were all 4A, Russell 3A and teams were never in such a state as to have to play such young players as you see now. It was very unusual to see a ninth grader play, let alone 7th and 8th graders. Maybe I am not 100% right on my list but I would feel comfortable giving myself at least a score of 90% on it.

Nothing against Jonathan but I have to agree with Big Bubba on this one. I can name several that were better than Vanhoose from this area, school by school. Here is a short list: Ashland 1. Marty Thomas 2. Chuck Cantrell 3. Mark Surgalski (I may have spelled that wrong) 4. Jerry Johnson Fairview 1. Jeff Hall 2. Clarence Thompson 3. Don Rigsby Boyd Co. 1. Frank Lee 2. Tyler Zornes 3. David Layne Like I said, this is a quick list and not going back too far in region history, clearly Larry Conley, Harold Sargent and some others from the Ashland championship team would be ahead of Jonathan as well. And I want to make myself as clear as possible; this is no knock at this young man's career. He had a great run and this year he was most likely the best player in the region. But there is noway that he is top five all time in 16th region history.

Rose Hill by 12-15. I think that if the Lady Royals can get Ashland down by double figures early it will take too much out of the Kittens to mount a comeback. A big key is Britt Faulkner staying on the court. When she gets in foul trouble and has to go to the bench that not only takes away maybe the best defender that the Lady Royals has but also a key ball handler for them as well. I think the world of both teams and coaches but would love to see the Lady Royals make another great post season run.

Hall and Collins have flown under the radar all year with Euton and Jackson getting so much attention, but don't get me wrong, those young Royals deserve all the press they get. But this lack of attention could be good for Hall and Collins. A lot less pressure this way for both of them and in a year or two you may see Fairview really shine as they have several good young players or got to see playing time this year.

Tough loss for Rose Hill but just like last years loss to Ashland in the district opener I expect the Royals to learn from it and make some serious noise next year. Euton and Jackson may end up being one of the most talented duos in region history and I expect Coach Fraley and his staff to give a lot of individual attention to the other players in an effort to develop more depth and balance to an already very good team. I would think that every school in the region would love to have the future and talent that Rose Hill has, with the possible exception of Elliot County who has a very talented team returning as well.

Ashland has had their share of transfers. Beach, Arbaugh, Large, Cantrell and Matt Thomas to name a few. Yes, Russell has a couple on their team and I am the last person on the earth to be called a Red Devil fan but if someone is going to call out Russell on the topic of transfers then they must accept their own schools list of transfers as well, especially the ones who have had major impact like the list I have on this reply.

To say that she is far and away, and I am guessing that is what you mean by saying that it is not even close, better than Terry or Queen is taking school pride too far. Laura Terry and Emily Queen over their careers have accomplished more statistically and within the team concept than any player in the region. Points, rebounds and team success backs me up on this one.

Coach Fraley is a class act and if he were to win coach of the year would be very deserving. As a whole, the team has taken on all those who would schedule them and has played very well especially considering how young this team is. The future is VERY bright at Rose Hill and those trashing these young men and Coach Fraley will soon be eating a very large portion of crow.

I did not say any of the officials name and was still told to quit discussing officials in another thread.

Hey, don't complain about the officials. I had a mod get onto me for that yesterday and I would hate for them to have to get after someone else.

What in the blue heck are you talking about? What was there in my quote that said she should have signed anywhere at all? I have re-read my post and still can't understand what you are talking about. If it is something obvious then please fill me in, Lord knows the last thing I want to do is misunderstand one of your thought provoking posts.

But one would think that with all Emily has done, leading rebounder, male or female in region history and leading female score in region history, that she would at least rate as much coverage as anyone else. If someone can get front page coverage for becoming the leading scorer in their schools history then if someone becomes the leading scorer in 16th region history it should rate just as much coverage, but maybe that is just me.

Or maybe a local "don't pay retail" home furnishings and appliances store! :laugh:

You are correct, I remember when he was nominated. A really tough big man to handle at the time.
