People come on and give the impression that he longed for anonymity and yet he does everything to the contrary, that is what I was talking about. And fewer may find "the spotlight" in 7th grade but then again I hope that there are fewer 14 and 15 year old 7th graders each year.

Yes, it is so obvious that he has made every effort to stay out of the spotlight. If this is was a soap opera then he was the lead in it of his own accord. But his parents are as much if not more to blame for the situation. They should have been more careful of who they let take charge of his situation and his bouncing around from school to school certainly did not help.

If Emily Queen is not on this team it is an injustice and the Ky. team will not be represented by the best that this state has to offer.

Classic post, haha. If he had continued playing football he would have fit right in with that crew too.

I can only imagine the trouble he will get into away from home if he has problems while at home.

He could level the playing field himself by staying out of trouble and acting like an adult, which at 19 years old he is.

All three listed here are class acts on and off of the court, well deserving of any praise that they may receive. And to their parents; great job on raising awesome role models for this community.

My information I have been posting on have been from the newspapers as well but to some on here that is not reliable I guess. Your post brings up an excellent point; why was he still in the game at that point? Patterson was already out of the game. The only reason I can see to keep him in is to give him more chances to show up the other team, lots of class involved in that one.

Heresay? Prejudice? Now you are just being way off base. Fact: OJ Mayo was suspended at the North College Hill school he was attending. Fact: OJ Mayo was suspended at HHS this year. Fact: OJ Mayo was given two technical fouls, pre-flop, and thrown out of a game this year. Fact: OJ Mayo is in a car circling a crack house with pot in the car. Fact: OJ Mayo is given a technical is his last high school game. This is not heresay, this is all fact. And if you are calling me out on here as being prejudiced then you and I have serious issues. You may not agree with me, I certainly don't agree with you, but do not make this personal and make any allegations that I may be prejudiced in any way, shape or form. Clear on that?

^ You have no idea whether or not I know him, the fact remains he makes poor choices on and off the court. You may blindly post about him like he never makes a mistake, and that is certainly your right. But an unbiased person, maybe one with limited or no contact to be leaning toward or against him, may be better suited to post honestly. I have had limited contact with OJ Mayo but the facts remain that he has been suspended from school at two different schools, kicked out of games and likes to hang out with drug users if not dealers. Yes, he is a great 19 year old talent but that alone does not mean that he needs to be talked about like he is a great ingredient to his community, his actions clearly show that he is not. Unless you are looking for a twice suspended, multi technical foul and follower of people who break the law as a role model.

I agree, if he doesn't change his "me, me and more me" attitude he will not reach his full potential. Between that attitude and his choice of friends nothing is a sure thing with this player.

You are very correct. Now to predict the response to our posts, "OJ did not play in that second game, that is why it was close."

Had tough time with Scott County, lost once and won once. I don't think HHS would have won the state tournament in Kentucky this year. Team chemistry not what it could be and Patterson was not used properly this year, it was all about OJ this year and that is why they lost the first game with Scott County and why they won the second game against Scott without OJ. Mayo average over a shot a minute in the first contest with Scott and Patterson hardly touched the ball unless it was on a rebound.

These are not allegations, facts, and he is not a minor, a 19 year old adult who should know much better by now.

^ I totally agree with both of your posts and OJ is the posterboy for the problem. He will be 20 before his first college game. What was the point in holding him back? It is obvious he is much more ahead of his peers at the same age and with his only goal being to play in the NBA it actually cost the chance of going pro early. If he would have graduated two years ago, as he could have, he would have been in the last class that could turn pro out of college. I know there are 14-15-16 year olds that have the talent and physcial ability to compete with 19 year olds but that group is rare and not the norm. I really believe that a 19 year old should not be allowed to play in any high school sport that starts after he/she turns 19. If the player in question turns 19 in October that would make them eligible to play football, soccer, volleyball or run cross country but they could not play basketball, baseball, softball or run track. It may solve some of the problems of parents holding back to get the player an edge in a particular sport and this would only affect those who would have been 18 and graduating anyway, not 17 year old players being held back for a year. Seems more fair to me, but I am sure that there are many who disagree but honestly isn't it more fair to hold a 17 year old back one year and have them graduate at 18 than hold back someone who is already 18 and have them graduate at 19?
