Breds Fan

The shortstop from Owensboro made some amazing plays in the championship game. He made to backhands in the six hole make easy when I didnt even think he had a chance. Is this kid playing college ball? Where at?

Jared Martin, Dye, Moss, Thomas, Chasteen, and Thompson will be the seniors that lead the team. Fowler, Dailey, and Sanders will be the main juniors. Jordan Martin will be a freshman and was clocked at 81 as an eighth grader. Paul Jones can flat out crush the ball and will be a sophomore. Hunter Hill will be a sophomore next year and is a good ball player but has to be the backup of Moss. Martin, Dye, Thomas, Thompson, and Fowler all batter over .400 this year. While Chasteen, Sanders, Moss and Fowler were all high .300's.

Harrison County will have 6 seniors next year and 8 juniors and many other young players. They should be one of the top teams in the state next year.

Are there other seniors in the 10th region that are going to play division 1 ball? I know Eric Case has had many offers but none division 1 that I know of.

He got into trouble at school the day before the sectional tournament and was suspended from the team. Two days before the state tournament he was given another chance to rejoin the team but only as a backup, which is better then not being on the team at all. Feeback has stepped up and earned his spot to start in the state tournament while Moss let his team down. Moss is a great ballplayer but needs to get his head strait. He has not had an outstanding year on the diamond which most people expected because of a good sophomore year.

Malcolm Thomas is by far one of the best players in the region. Him and Jared Martin should lead the thorobreds.

Martin reached on a error by the third baseman. Chasteen bunted for a hit. Shane Fowler singles to score Martin and advance Chasteen to third. Thompson hits a slow roller to second and hits into a fielders choice and scores Chasteen. Harrisons defense made some very nice plays and what a throw by catcher, Bobby Feeback.

If Dye somehow gets to play thursday I assume Martin will throw for the breds but if he isnt able to Dailey or Chasteen should get the call. If the breds can play error free baseball and hit the ball and get the runs they could pull away with this one. Trinity is a great team so this should be a good game.

Could the winner of this game become the 2009 state champion?

If they cant score they cant win. You dont allow runs with great defense and pitching and play small ball to win the game and get a run against a great pitcher.

Great teams always find a way to win.

No offense but Covington Catholics season is over. They had a great season but they are not one of the eight teams that are going to state. No matter what luck or off night it was, that is what baseball is about. Great teams come to play everyday and thats what the Breds did. Congratulations Beechwood on a tremendous year. If I stand corrected Covington Catholic was also that favorite last year and were beat out by Newport Central Catholic. Sounds like Covington Catholic should come to play more and stop overlooking teams during the post season. Good luck Breds at state. Represent Harrison County well.

Thomas led of the game with a home run. Eric Sanders was hit(nicked) by a pitch while Matthew Dye had a sacrafice bunt to move him to second. Chasteen hit a bullet back up the middle to score Dye. Fowler struck out and then Martin hit another ball up the middle to score Chasteen. Thompson doubled to the right center gap to score Martin. Case then hit another right center field double to score Thompson. Taylor Hill then hit another ball up the middle to score Case. My memory is unable to tell me what happened next but this is how the breds got started the first time through the lineup.

Martin gets the win for the breds as he improves his record to 4-0. The breds put on a hitting show tonight as they scored 9 runs in the first inning against Beechwoods ace pitcher, AJ Smith. Thomas led of with a home run to set the game off and breds just kept on rolling after that. Martin did not have his best stuff tonight but still battled hard to get the win. Case relieved Martin in the first because he was having trouble throwing stikes but then came back in the second to finish out the game. Congrats Breds and lets keep it going.

I would love to see Harrison Countys shortstop , senior, Eric Case get this award. He is a leader for the breds on and off the field. He has made some of the best catches I have ever seen. Although he is not known as a hitter for the breds, he always finds a way to get a big hit when the breds need it or do his job in the batters box, ever if its a sacrifice or just hitting behind the runner.

Any ideas?

Martin will start on the mound for the breds on tuesday. Will Smith start for Beechwood on the mound?

Hunter Hill was struck in the helmet and the neck. It just nicked the bottom of his helmet while connecting with his neck. He is doing better but still with some mild headaches and dizziness. I do not believe he will be dressing against Beechwood but I could be mistaken.

I would like to congradulate Bobby Feeback for coming in to pinch hit with an 0-2 count with a runner on third and two outs. He battles the count all the way to 3-2 and then delivers a base hit to give the breds another run. This is great leadership by a senior.

Harrison this year starts 6 juniors(1 being a designated hitter), 1 senior, and 3 sophomores on most days. They have an 8th grader throwing the ball around the low 80's that will really help them in the future along with a few others in that age group. One that I believe has a big chance of becoming a great ball player is Hunter Hill. He is the young man hit in the head against Bracken County. This young man just has a great feel for the game and is a brick wall behind the plate. Congrats Breds!!!

Nicholas County did not have school on Friday.

Why was the game not played tonight after the 2 innings of Scott vs. Nicholas? That game could have started around 4 and gave the winner time to get ready for the championship with an hour or so of rest.

Either Martin or Dailey will start for the breds and they have not had much trouble hitting the curve ball this year. I believe that Harrison wins this game but it will be a great game to watch. Harrison has the pitching, hitting, defense and experience to carry them on past Beechwood.

Harrison got started early when Malcolm Thomas led off the game with a home run,Dye scored Sanders and Martin scored Dye and Chasteen on a hard ball hit back up the middle and the breds never looked back. There defense was absolutely flawless and there pitching was just as good. Dailey, Chasteen, and Dye all threw the ball very well for the breds.

Congrats to the Colonels on a great season and also congrats to the Eagles for advancing. Who else does Scott have that can pitch?
