  2. Usually one half of the bracket is stronger than the other, maybe gives an underdog a chance to get to Saturday and then as we all know, anything goes.
  3. Thanks, I looked up the roster last night and saw the player's names. Should have some nice pieces next year to go with Black and Harris.
  4. Because fans of both schools love their teams vewwy, vewwy much. BUT in keeping this on topic, I know nothing about Rowan other than they only have 4 losses, two of those by 2 points or less. Only lost to Madison Central by 10. So it's going to probably be a close game down the wire.
  5. Going by the logic that was established in the Madison Central/Mason County threads, GRC beat Rowan by 2, GRC is at least 20 points better than Mason County. So yeah, Rowan by 18.
  6. FINALLY made it out to the Fieldhouse to see the Royals. Fleming County has a really nice team, I can't believe this is the same team that lost to Rowan and Ashland by over 60 points combined. They don't have much size, but they really play hard and hustle. Fleming County got the first 4 points to start the third to go up by 4, after that, it was all Royals. I actually went to this game to see more the JV than the Varsity. I was curious to see what the Royals have after this talented class graduates and there was a really nice player #34 that really stood out, another player or two looked good. It will be an interesting Mason County team next year, they really do just keep reloading. Talked to Neal briefly as he shot around during halftime of JV game. He said that he just started practicing and should be playing in about 2 weeks. Can you say February 4th????
  7. Would be nice to see the Royals really build some momentum before D-Day on February 4th. The Mason County Royals held the John Hardin Bulldogs to 22 points below their scoring average in a 60-49 victory tonight in the Joe B. Hall Kentucky Prep Classic at Montgomery County. Treg Setty had a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds and was named the Pat Doyle Most Valuable Player of the Game. Tyler Black scored 12 points. Jordan Gilbert and Josh Harris each added 10 points. Mason County hosts Fleming County Tuesday night. MC (10-7) Gilbert 10, Black 12, Setty 20, Harris 10, Henry 4, Menefee 4 JH (13-2) Price 2, Harness 3, Bonner 7, Richard 12, Foster 8, Savoy 8, Rasheed 2, Holloway 2 http://courtsidewithdannyweddle.blogspot.com/
  8. So when Mason County went about 7 years without winning a regional, mid 90's til that Lofton guy came along, I guess the homecourt advantage didn't apply then? Does it only apply when they win? If I remember correctly, Clark County led the entire game last year, outplayed the Royals and were a better team. I guess homecourt only applied when Clark County started making dumb decisions on offense, then that homecourt thing kicked in. OR is it homecourt like a couple years ago when Clark County was given 3 free throws on a foul called at half court to end the game. There are other options now, the districts will likely vote to rotate this between the 3 buildings, PROBLEM SOLVED! Oh yeah, the Royals have still won 3 straight regionals on 3 different courts.
  9. Thank goodness, stop the darn bleeding, at least for one night.
  10. JH is 13-0, I don't care how good/bad the 5th is, that's impressive and they were darn close to beating the Royals last year at Rupp. Hardin wins this going away.
  11. Anyone that has that panic button, now is the time to press the crap out of it. Absolute disgrace to lose this game
  12. Royals "should" get to 15 wins this year, if they do, it will mark 20 straight years of 15 wins or more. They haven't had a season with less than 10 wins in over 30 years. They have only had 5 losing seasons in 51 years of basketball. Mason County will be fine, this past decade has spoiled people a great deal. I said it in the prediction thread, Central is obviously a pretty good team. They are playing in a brutal region, but how about we give them some credit and not how bad the Royals are. Mason County is merely a "good" team this year, I know that's shocking, but they are just "good" no more, no less.
  13. It's now official, Mason County is awful, cancel the rest of the season. Clark County will beat the Royals by at least 30 in the regional tournament, that's if the defending champs can even make it out of their district.
  14. You do realize that Madison Central only last to Ballard by 10 a couple weeks ago, right? As others have said, they have been inconsistent, but this is by no means an easy W on the schedule. I understand the Royals recent history, but this year's team is a work in progress, they aren't "great" by any stretch of the imagination. Central is 9-2 since their 1-3 start to the season.
  15. Mason County nearly beat Mount Vernon in Hawaii and they were ranked top 15 nationally. So that does they are a top 20 team in the country?? Royals "should" win this game by around 10, but this team will continue to just find its way til Neal gets back.
  16. Yep, I'm also very happy for Tyler. Next year he will likely have to shoulder the load and score 20 a night, I think he is more than capable to do it.
  17. Setty 33, Black 24 MC 7-5 PD 7-8 Royals will FINALLY play their home opener tomorrow night against Deming.
  18. Last year the draw was held at the end of January, so we should hear something soon.
  19. SANDY HOOK — West Carter notched an important victory over Elliott County on Tuesday night. It was the first Comets’ win over the Lions since the 2004-05 season and the first in Sandy Hook since January 2003. The 62nd District foes battled closely until a 25-17 fourth quarter gave the Comets a boost to win, 74-60. Five Comets scored in double figures, with Kyle Brown leading the way. Brown had 17, Derek Lawson 16, Aaron Rayburn 15, Harrison Bond 13 and Cody Stamper 10. Lawson chipped in 11 rebounds as well. http://dailyindependent.com/localsports/x1522065172/PREP-ROUNDUP-West-Carter-hands-Elliott-4th-straight-loss
  20. The update before the season started was that he could start some jogging first part of January and is expected back at the end of this month, first part of February. No surprise that when he came back last year the Royals ran off 12 in a row I think before they lost Saturday morning at Rupp. The shot of Neal at the end of the 10th Region Championship last year that made the front page of the Maysville paper is something I will never, ever forget.
  21. These are not your older brother's Royals. Coming into the season with no defined bench, no Pawsat and not facing the easiest schedule in the world. Dunbar will be a challenge, but if they manage to win that game, they will finish this brutal stretch of 12 road games 7-5 and 3 of those losses being 1 possession games in the 4th quarter. The Royals did come back to cut the Princeton lead down to 5, but I'm not even including that one. It's worth repeating if anyone doesn't know, it's been over 60 years since a 10th Region team won 4 straight region titles.
