It's now official, Mason County is awful, cancel the rest of the season.

 

 

Clark County will beat the Royals by at least 30 in the regional tournament, that's if the defending champs can even make it out of their district. :lol:

This is schock to me. They must have not eaten too much of the popcorn before the game.

As I said in the prediction thread, this surprises me. Madison Central obviously must have improved a bit but can the royal faithful tell us what happened?

The Royals are greatly limited at the guard position. Jordan Gilbert has absolutley no help handling the basketball. GRC easily wins by double digits at this point in the season. A total lack of depth and consistent foul trouble will doom this team for the remainder of the season.

This is true. The worst part about it, its not the kids fault. This team should not be 8-6. Some things that are obvious in the stands should be noticed by the ones in suits.

Mason County could not stop Hawkins in the fourth quarter. He did the exact same thing in the last game, as he did tonight. If any sort of defensive pressure was put on Hawkins it would have been a different ballgame. I look for the Royals to rebound from this loss and take form once Neal gets back into the lineup.

Clark and Mason may not meet in the regional tournament.

RICHMOND — For the second time in less than a month, Dominique Hawkins played a major role in Madison Central picking up a big victory over one of the better teams in the 10th Region.

 

The standout sophomore point guard scored a game-high 30 points and added seven rebounds as the Indians (10-5) defeated Mason County, 63-54, Friday in Maysville. Hawkins hit 16-of-21 free throws and come up with some clutch plays in the closing minutes for the Indians.

 

“Dominique was something else,” Central coach Allen Feldhaus said. “They didn’t have an answer for him. He put on a show.”

 

Hawkins had a game-high 23 points when Central defeated Mason County (8-6) on Dec. 29 at the Gateway Classic in Mt. Sterling.

Just didn't see Mason losing this time at home. Central does have some nice young talent, espcially Hawkins, and I have noticed some good numbers from Allen lately. Allen is something like 6'-7" and still growing. This could be a very good team next year and might surprise someone in the 11th this year. Still this score just stuns me.

No depth, 5 players at best, have scored all year and usually on 3 in double digits. Gilbert is the only guard they have and there's no one in the immediate future as I can see. Tough this year but they'll be competitive in the tournament. Mason's comparison bar is just much higher than most of the other area teams. Looks like very tough sledding for several years after this one though.

O' Hearn may leave after this year, because unless major transfers come into the Mason County area(as has mysteriously happened over the years), he is really going to have to coach things up for awhile. They'll have Black next year, but no Gilbert, Setty,Miller or Lofton- types all the way down into middle school. Might hear crickets in the Fieldhouse

Royals "should" get to 15 wins this year, if they do, it will mark 20 straight years of 15 wins or more. They haven't had a season with less than 10 wins in over 30 years. They have only had 5 losing seasons in 51 years of basketball.

 

Mason County will be fine, this past decade has spoiled people a great deal.

Mason County is merely a "good" team this year, I know that's shocking, but they are just "good" no more, no less.

This is the way I was seeing Mason Co pre-season, but many Mason Co faithful was giving me a hard time. We are: "#1 untill we are knocked off", Being ranked in the Cats Pause as the #1 team in the 10th also has not helped Mason Co either. Some of the Mason Co posters are being awful quite now.
