I thought the film was really, really well done. I don't really rank movies until after some time has past, but I will say it brought back memories of seeing Passion of the Christ in theaters. Like Passion, Unbroken isn't a movie you watch, it's a movie you experience. I do get the criticisms, the movie coming across like a paint by numbers TV movie, leaving out the 2nd half of his life, focusing on torture, etc. I thought the acting was outstanding, I think it was a lose/lose situation for Jolie. If she glosses over the Olympics, sea and POW camp, the film may come across as overtly religious and not focusing on his struggle. You focus too much on POW camp, you need to show more of religious side. I see the criticisms, but with his life, it would have to be over 3 hours to try and do each part justice. I thought it was a great job by all involved.

Nothing wrong with the fine folks of Adams County. With that said, I'm hoping my niece finishes high school at Manchester and gets the heck out of dodge. lol -

Even more impressive than that Royals win total is that in 55 years of basketball they have had just 5 losing seasons, haven't had one since 1989-1990. 49 years of 15 wins or more, including this year. Now if they can just figure out a way to beat Augusta in a couple months. lol -

These win totals are from the KHSAA website. It's pretty darn phenomenal what Mason County has done in comparison to other schools that have had a program much longer. -

At this rate, maybe Tilghman can catch Ashland for winningest school in state. -

Best 10th Region Game....Ever...
HOMELESS CAMEL replied to Mtown1995's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
There is video from that 2010 regional final between Clark and Mason, recorded by Terry Setty. I guess it's good that it appears I haven't gained any weight since then lol I gave a few players a hug, including coach O'Hearn on the floor. Truly remarkable. Isn't it amazing to think, it's been 5 years since the Royals have won a regional title. Granted, they really haven't been the best team in region in that time. It just brings back that fun discussion about home court advantage, ah memories : ) -
Harvard ties NCAA record with just 1 field goal in 1st half.

Never thought the day would come when Ashland would start a season 0-8, my goodness gracious. -
Final With the win, the Royals are 15-4 on the year. In 54 years of basketball, Mason County has had 48 seasons of 15 wins or more and only 5 losing seasons, the one other year they were 13-11. I know that doesn't mean anything to where this group can go in March, but my goodness gracious. : )

Captain & Tennille divorcing
HOMELESS CAMEL replied to CincySportsFan's topic in Television / Films / Music
Went to a Price is Right taping in fall of 2012, no I wasn't called on stage, but I was on camera for a few fleeting moments. Anyhoo, there was a couple in front row dressed very similar to Captain & Tennille, sure it wasn't intentional as I believe they were only in their 20's. Well, during breaks while they would set up for the next game, Drew would talk to the crowd and pointed them out. Drew asked guy in booth to play some Captain & Tennille, sure enough Love Will Keep Us Together was played, Drew and entire audience sang along. It was quite the experience to say the least. :lol2: -

Danny had posted the game would start late, I was waiting for him to post quarter updates and when I didn't seen anything, I couldn't understand what was going on. THEN out of the blue, he posts the final, oh well darn. I don't live in KY anymore and just heard about Shane Hall being Mr Basketball contender, those numbers show that. Goodness. -
A-Rod suspended for 162 games
HOMELESS CAMEL replied to LCDAWGS19's topic in Major League Baseball (MLB)
Thought he would just get 81 games next year, suprising it's the whole season. Not that it matters, his career is all but over at this point. Such a shame with all the talent he had, course you could say that if he has in fact been using since 90's his whole career was predicated on cheating. -

What good movies have you seen lately?
HOMELESS CAMEL replied to Colonels_Wear_Blue's topic in Television / Films / Music
Haven't gone back to read other pages in the thread, BUT I will thrown in a few I have seen over last month. Disney's Frozen -- just didn't think it was that great, came across as generic Disney movie following same tire formula. American Hustle wasn't great, but pretty darn good with solid performances all around Anchorman 2 -- BIG disappointment, but kinda went in expecting that Don Jon REALLY good movie, Joseph Gordon Levitt directoral debut did a fabulous job Paranormal Activity: Marked Ones It's about what you can expect at part 5 of a franchise, not great, not bad Her -- Joaquin is fantastic, but the conflict in relationship with OS feels forced and ending is very heavy handed WHEW lol Yes, I realize the thread title is "good" movies you have seen recently, but I'm too harsh a critic and rarely like anything. So I might as well mention everything I have seen recently : ) -
