Mason County 58 Bishop Brossart 43
I agree, I love the players on this team, but we have seen them really struggle against the 11th Region this year. So yeah, this schedule has been plenty tough enough for the talent they have.

 Can't forget that the Royals haven't lost a game at the Fieldhouse since 1967. With no dispresect to anyone else in the 10th Region, we all knew that more than likely the title would once again come down to Clark and Mason County. We are nearing that "again" and I'm just ready to see how it plays out. Next year will be the most wide open the region has been in a long time. From 1995-2001, the 10th Region championship was won by 5 different teams, I would expect we are going to have a stretch starting next year where that happens again.

Actually no, the Royals have played an awful schedule, lost to a bunch of schools they shouldn't have been playing in the first place. Haven't you been reading this board??  All kidding aside, if the Royals have a healthy Neal all year, they go from an up/down 15-12 team to a team that is 21-6 and borderline state ranked. None of that matters now, getting that 4th straight region title is the ONLY thing that matters.

Yeah, I went back and listened to some of Brossart's broadcast when I got home and they mentioned how they had never seen a place honor the other school's seniors. I have lived here in Maysville since 2006 and it's something I have gotten used to, I figured most places did it that way, I guess not. Neal said his knee fine felt fine afterwards and yeah, all I was watching was his movement during warmups. If he can give them just 15-20 minutes a game in the playoffs that would be huge. You could feel an emotional lift in the gym just having him on the floor.

I was darn near brought to tears when I saw Neal come out for warmups and he looked pretty good. Was cutting well, seemed to be moving fine, there are no words to describe how huge that is. He now has a chance to play 4 games before a possible rematch with the nation's #1 ranked team. Royals now 15-12 and while that is nothing to hold a parade over, it does mark the 20th straight season Mason County has had 15 wins or more. Royals haven't had a losing season since 1989-1990 when they went 10-17, that's right, Mason County hasn't had a losing season since right after Reagan left office  Another fun fact, Royals have now had 46 winning seasons in 51 years of basketball, only 2 losing seasons since 1977. WHEW, still one more regular season game at Bryan Station and then get ready for the playoffs. During warmups, the players were wearing the spiffy "Operation 4-Peat" tshirts, I don't think they were wearing them when I saw them playing Fleming County. ALRIGHT, on to the game. Always expected a "grinder" type game with the Mustangs and tonight was no different. Royals led 30-20 at the half, Brossart made a run in the 3rd to cut it to 3, but Mason County went on a big run to put the game away. LET'S GET THE PLAYOFFS STARTED!!! ROYALS ARE FINALLY HEALTHY!!!!!

It's funny reading your posts because you only seem to post in Mason County threads and they are usually negative. You have quite the gift, don't worry, next year Black will be getting most of the shots and should see around 20 or so game. What help he has will determine how far the Royals go.

Can't really be considered bias when Setty has put an "average" of 23 and 10 this year and then we find out he played most of January with pneumonia. Not to mention the Royals don't really have a slew of weapons ready to score at will. It's all on Treg's shoulders and he has handled it very well. All that matters is what that picture shows, 4-Peat. No 10th Region team has won 4 straight region titles in over 65 years. Only Maysville and Mason County have won 3 straight region titles, Royals have done it 3 times, Maysville just once. I'm just ready for the regional tournament, MORE than ready.

All I told my dad was "uh oh, look who might be putting the pieces together" HC was ranked #11 in the most recent BGP poll.

Final Game played at Nicholas County as part of the Shoot For the Cure Classic. Proceeds benefit American Diabetes Association. Setty finishes with 30. There are no words to describe what a HUGE win this is for the Royals. Might be the first state ranked team they have beaten this year, I can only imagine the confidence it gives the kids going into the playoffs.

Covington Catholic 63 Mason County 54
They have lost a bunch of games this year, I can imagine everyone is getting a tad frustrated and upset. But they are through a tough part of this schedule and now can "hopefully" get healthy and pick up some momentum before the tournament starts. Once again, they only trailed by 2 or 3 with the ball with around 3 minutes to go. They can't convert, Cov Cath does and the game gets away from them after that.

Ashland 76 Mason County 68
No Gilbert, Setty fouls out with 7 minutes to go in game. Yet with that, these Royals battled Ashland down to the wire. I believe it was a 4 point game with under 2 minutes to go, Royals had a layup blocked that turned into 2 points on the other end, sealed the win. Mason County with another tough road game on Tuesday at Cov Cath. I look forward to this team maybe FINALLY putting a healthy lineup together next week, pick up the pieces and show everyone why they are 3 time defending champions.

Mason County lost to Scott County at home by 12 in 2008, also to Bryan Station that year by 9 on senior night. We know how that season ended. Article in the Maysville paper says that this year will be the first time in a little over 20 years that Mason County will not have a winning record at home in the regular season. It will take wins in their last two home games just to get to 5-5. Seemingly all 10 of their losses have been one possession games at one point in the 4th quarter. I believe the Catholic game and the Cincinnati Princeton were out of hand by the time the 4th started. They don't have the most talent, but the kids play with heart, anyone still want to question the head coach at this point? This is a 12-10 team and likely could be 12-12 with their next two games at Ashland tonight and at Cov Cath. Gilbert suffered a concussion and I can't imagine him returning for a week or two, no reason to rush him. Have him ready for the regional tournament is all that matters now.

Once again, Royals getting that home cooking.

Since 1993 the Royals are 11-1 against Clark County in the 10th Region tournament. Give me a healthy Royals team, March can't get here soon enough.

George Rogers Clark vs Mason County predictions 2/4
Welcome to the site, just to let you know, Mason County is 3-4 at home this year, soon to be 3-5. They will have to win their last two home games against Harrison and Brossart just to finish .500.

George Rogers Clark vs Mason County predictions 2/4
Do we really need a prediction thread?? Clark County is unbeaten and nationally ranked  WHEN Clark County wins this by 20 plus and they likely will, I want everyone to fondly remember what happened after the Royals beat Elliott County by 30 a few years ago. We saw what happened that second meeting. If anything, I want the Cardinals to win this very, very easily.

Montgomery County 52 Mason County 51
You do realize that since 1968, Mason County has either won or been in the regional final 25 times. Any "drought" they might have will last 4 or 5 years and they will pick up where they left off.

Had to remind myself that I'm 36 years old and that in the grand sheme of things, it's just a game. Was ready to throw my netbook across the room when the ref blew the whistle with no time left putting the Indians at the free throw line to win the game. Mason County and their big homecourt advantage.

10th Region Tournament Favorite
Unless Clark/Mason meet in the semifinals, we could see the Royals in their 6th straight region final. Would have been neat had Clark County made the regional final Miller's Senior year. We could have been looking at six straight Clark County/Mason County region finals. Not to divert this topic too much, but anyone know why Danny Weddle is quitting his blog?

Elliott County /Ashland predictions 2/1
Probably going to be a close game late, I would think that would favor the home team, so I would go with Ashland by just 5 or so.

Mason County 66 Grant County 44
Royals have played two of the better teams in the 11th in Catholic and Madison Central. State ranked team in Ohio in Princeton, one of the better teams in the 16th in Rowan. The Hawaii team they lost to before Christmas was the defending state champions and oh yeah, the nationally ranked Mount Vernon team. They still have to play the nationally ranked and unbeaten Clark County team, and two tough road games at Covington Catholic and Ashland. Their schedule has been tough enough this year. Also worth noting that in 6 of the 8 losses, the Royals have either led or it has been a one possession game late, they have come up short, but this team will play its rear end off. They may not have the talent, but they play with effort. As I said on another thread, this group will still get to 15 wins and an outside shot at 20. Getting to 15 wins would mark the TWENTIETH year in a row Mason County has had 15 wins or more. Pretty remarkable.

Rowan County 49 Mason County 44
Pawsat could be back for the Febuary 4th glorified scrimmage, personally I would keep him out. Could be used an excuse when Royals lose by 20  Rowan showed at Clark County they are the real deal. Royals are down this year, but only giving up 26 points going into the 4th is a credit to Vikings defense. Looking forward to seeing how they match up with Ashland in a couple weeks.
