  1. I just moved to Chicago today, I'm unpacking uhaul and see Virginia down 7 with 10 minutes to go. Saying I was panicking is being kind. It's already rivalry game and despite how bad Tech is, they got UVA in their building, no surprise it wasn't a blowout. Virginia is going to lose couple games, thank god that 1st one wasn't today.
  2. In a rebuke to a legion of online supporters and what the journalist and one-time member of Anonymous called a “dangerous precedent”, Barrett Brown was sentenced to 63 months in prison by a federal judge in Dallas on Thursday. Brown’s backers from across the web had hoped he would be able to walk free with his 31 months of time served for what they insist was “merely linking to hacked material”. But the 33-year-old, who was once considered something of a spokesman for the Anonymous movement, will face more than twice that sentence. The judge also ordered him to pay more than $890,000 in restitution and fines. In a statement released after his sentencing, Brown was sarcastically upbeat: “Good news!” he wrote. “The US government decided today that because I did such a good job investigating the cyber-industrial complex, they’re now going to send me to investigate the prison-industrial complex.” Barrett Brown sentenced to 63 months for 'merely linking to hacked material' | Technology | The Guardian
  3. Very true, as this season progresses, it will be a worry as the spotlight grows bigger on this group.
  4. This is 3rd time this year Virginia has held a team under 30 for a game. Yes, Georgia Tech is horrific, but yes this is lowest point total for any team in ACC conference game. UVA held Rutgers to 26 and Harvard to 27. Virginia gets Duke and Louisville at home in a couple weeks and at Carolina, so we will see how this group holds up. Scary thing is, Virginia only loses 1 SR this year, rest of group is all Juniors. A fun fact since I know many people on here don't follow the Cavaliers, freshman Isaiah Wilkins has become a big time contributor in recent weeks is step son of Dominique.
  5. So this is what they would look like if down in water. Like others have said, not sure where it got the "shark" part of it's name.
  6. TIJUANA, Mexico - Police in a Mexican border city say a drone overloaded with illicit methamphetamine has crashed into a supermarket parking lot. Tijuana police spokesman Jorge Morrua said Wednesday that police were alerted after the drone fell Tuesday night near the San Ysidro crossing at Mexico's border with California. Six packets of the drug, weighing more than six pounds, were taped to the six-propeller remote-controlled aircraft. Morrua said authorities are investigating where the flight originated and who was controlling it. He said it was not the first time they had seen drones used for smuggling drugs across the border. 7. The Reds announced that they’ve signed veteran right-hander Jason Marquis to a minor league deal with an invitation to big league Spring Training. The 36-year-old Marquis, a client of ACES, spent much of the 2014 campaign recovering from Tommy John surgery and worked out in front of Reds scouts last May before ultimately signing a minor league deal with the Phillies. In 51 2/3 innings with the Phillies’ minor league affiliates, he posted a combined 4.1 ERA with a 43-to-13 K/BB ratio. MLB Rumors - MLBTradeRumors.com
  8. Yep, I know he had passed away and I thought about clarifying that in my post.
  9. Pope Francis, after a visit to the largest Catholic nation in Asia, says Catholics may have a moral responsibility to limit the number of their children and need not reproduce "like rabbits.'' But the pope also reaffirmed the church's ban on artificial means of birth control and said Catholics should practice "responsible parenting." His comments on the subject of birth control, made aboard the papal jet returning to Rome from the Philippines, were described as apparently unprecedented by the National Catholic Reporter, an independent news organization that follows the Vatican. Pope: Catholics need not breed 'like rabbits'
  10. The Lakers are desperate. They have one valuable rookie (with a broken leg) in Julius Randle. They have a lot of cap space but their key star is 36. Their second-best player shoots 37 percent from the field. But they're the Lakers. They always feel that salvation and a return to dominance is one swing of fortune based on their weather and history of success away. And so it is that Kobe Bryant told the Boston Herald he plans to continue pursuing Rajon Rondo in free agency. Bryant took particular interest in the late-December trade of Rajon Rondo to the Dallas Mavericks. He and Rondo had breakfast together when the Lakers were in Boston early last month, and it was widely assumed that Bryant was doing a little early recruiting on the point guard who becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer. While Mavericks owner Mark Cuban expressed confidence his club can and will sign Rondo to a new deal, Bryant told the Herald he's not about to cease working on getting him to LA. “No way,” Bryant said. “I'm not done. I'm not stopping until he signs an extension.” Kobe Bryant says he won't stop recruiting Rajon Rondo until he signs - CBSSports.com

  14. "I thought I could make it down to the truck stops in Kenly, and I didn't quite make it. I kind of drowsed off, and next thing I knew I had taken out the guard rail," driver Larry Scholting told ABC11. Header not meant to be in all caps if someone wants to correct it, thanks. 15. I knew he was always versatile and had been around a while, but this stat is impressive. Last year, he hit 17,000-point mark and joined Olajuwon, Malone and Garnett as the only players with at least 17,000 points, 9,000 rebounds, 1,500 steals and 1,000 blocks. Here is a look at 1999 NBA Draft.
  16. They won't have much use for him on the field, so being part of grounds crew would be one way to put him to work. Yes, I'm an idiot. :lol2:
  17. Alex Rodriguez met with Barry Bonds multiple times to get hitting tips as he prepares for his return to the major leagues, spokesman Ron Berkowitz confirmed Wednesday. The meetings with Bonds was presented by Berkowitz as part of a number of consultations with former standout hitters in an effort for Rodriguez to be fully ready for his return to the New York Yankees after missing last season because of his steroid suspension. Berkowitz said Rodriguez also worked with former Seattle Mariners teammate Edgar Martinez in Miami last week. The meetings with Bonds seem like an odd choice because of the steroids link between the two. The San Francisco Chronicle earlier reported the story and that the meetings took place at the Future Prospects facility in San Rafael, California. 18. The species, whose ancestry dates back 80 million years, is known as the 'living fossil'. It was caught on a fishing trawler in waters near Lakes Entrance in the state's Gippsland region. Simon Boag, from the South East Trawl Fishing Association, said it was the first time in living memory that a frilled shark had been sighted. "We couldn't find a fisherman who had ever seen one before," he said. "It does look 80 million years old. It looks prehistoric, it looks like it's from another time!" He said local fishermen were left scratching their heads at the sight of the two-metre-long creature, whose head and body resemble an eel, but whose tail is more reminiscent of a shark. The CSIRO confirmed it to be a frilled shark, and while the species is known to the scientific community, it was a nonetheless rare and bizarre find for local fishermen. 19. This whole thing is just odd, I'm looking forward to official explanation/decision from NFL, we seem to be getting all kinds of different stories.
  20. I have scrolled through these 3 pages, so it's probably been mentioned, but I would ban them from postseason play next year. They didn't learn their lesson with a fine and draft picks after spy gate. That would be the only thing to get their attention, but I highly doubt the NFL would have the guts to do that. Maybe someone could add a poll, ban, suspension, fine, draft picks or something.
