  1. Wait, nevermind, I found a score from 2008. Still looking, goodness, looking at random websites and newspapers, can't find anything about this game. I would assume it was postponed.
  2. Just makes me so proud how these kids played, should be quite a matchup on Monday night.
  3. Game played in Hawaii as part of the Iolani Classic. This was a 2nd round game, Mt. Vernon came in ranked #14 in the country in the USA Today Super 25 poll. Mt. Vernon tried pulling away several times, including a 41-28 lead in the 3rd quarter, but only led 43-39 going into final frame. It was a one possession game for much of the 4th quarter, they hit their free throws down the stretch to pad the final score. Royals will play Lexington Catholic on Monday in a consolation game. It will start around 10pm Maysville time. Mason County/Catholic is tied to Wheeler, GA/Iolani game. The winners/losers play each other on Tuesday.
  4. DARNIT! I didn't see this thread was already opened when I started my thread over 45 minutes later, goodness. Too much going on today  ANYHOO, from the KOB website: Levi Randolph 31Pts 2Blks, 5 Stls Here is a link to the bracket: http://kingofthebluegrass.com/2010%20Sunday%20KOB.pdf
  5. Yep, they are currently ranked 25 in the USA Today Super 25. They have 6 players 6'6 or better and another at 7'1".
  6. Final Game played in Hawaii as part of the Iolani Classic. This was a 2nd round game, Montverde led by just 1 at the end of 1 quarter, Knights had a 1 point lead at the half. Montverde had just a 3 point lead going into the 4th. Very nice showing by Lexington Catholic considering the talent Montverde has. Lexington Catholic will play on Monday in a consolation game against the loser of the Mason County/Mt. Vernon, NY game. Regardless of the outgame of that game, the Knights get a 4th game on Tuesday against either Wheeler, GA or Iolani I believe.
  7. Final 1st round of KOB tournament J-town will play Sheldon, CA on Monday
  8. Game played in Boca Raton, Florida as part of St. Andrew's Prep Classic tournament. This was a 1st round game. Menke hit a 3 for the Royals to tie the game with 10 seconds to go in regulation. Mason County will play loser of Prep Charter, PA and Jupiter, FL on Monday. No matter the result of that game, Lady Royals are guaranteed a third game at the tournament on Tuesday.
  9. It's no different than any other showcase tournament in this country that gets the top ranked teams. It's a way to showcase those schools, their talent, etc. Anyhoo, Susan Shan, who did the write up on the game I posted above. She was doing Twitter updates for all the games and said this about the Royals faithful. Mason County brought 90 fans to Hawaii with them. Fantastic showing. Kentucky fans always travel well
  10. Montverde, FL wins their game against a local Hawaii team 103-30. Here is the writeup on the game. Lexington Catholic set the tone of the game early by harassing Tsinghua with full court pressure. After trailing by 15 after the first, Tsinghua was able to break down the press in the second quarter to cut the lead to 27-25 at halftime. The Dragons were also able to force a few turnovers of their own with their swarming defense. Tsinghua kept the game close and cut the lead to one late in the third quarter, but its inability to consistently break down the press eventually became its downfall. Turnovers piled up as the Knights extended their lead. Although the Dragons had a size advantage (all players are 6’2″ and over) and displayed athleticism by consistently taking the ball to the hole, they lacked a point guard who could handle the ball. The Knights were led in scoring by Taylor Martin (22 points), who is a Kentucky baseball commit, and 3-point specialist Scott Schuette (20 points, four 3-pointers). They will play the winner of the Montverde vs. St. Louis game. http://www.iolaniclassic.hawaiihoops.com/
  11. I know the KHSAA rules and that's why the last time Mason County went to Hawaii, it was a round robin format since they couldn't play one of the other schools. I would think if it was a problem the brackets would have been setup differently, they are still showing Catholic playing Montverde in the 2nd round. Montverde was up 33-0 after 1 quarter against the Hawaii team they are playing right now. It's 61-11 at the half. In the write up on the tournament website, they mention Mason County next playing Lexington Catholic in the 2nd round. So that could end up being what they do, just strange and with this problem, why even invite any Kentucky schools to this tournament if you will have schools not a part of their state's athletic association.
  12. Good question, that's how the bracket is setup. Danny Weddle mentioned tonight the Royals likely playing Mt Vernon on Saturday. The other matchups in the upper half of the bracket are set. I know Danny said that if by some chance Mason County or Catholic got to the finals, they would not be able to play Oak Hill.
  13. Kaimuki was at a distinct height disadvantage with the majority of its players measuring between 5’5″ and 5’9″. The Bulldogs had to rely on 3-point shooting and scrappiness to stay in the game. In addition, the slow pace of the game was more suited to Kaimuki’s style. After trailing 24-14 at halftime, the Bulldogs nailed several 3-pointers in the third quarter to tie the game at 28. However, they couldn’t take the lead. They cut it down to two late in the fourth quarter, but a crucial turnover sealed their fate. Kaimuki finished with nine 3-pointers. Mason County’s Tyler Black led all scorers with 16 points. 6’9″ Southern Illinois commit Treg Setty was visibly frustrated in the first half after an inability to establish post presence and committing multiple turnovers from traveling calls. Setty picked it up in the second half and dominated the paint, finishing with 14 points. http://www.iolaniclassic.hawaiihoops.com/
  14. Game played in Hawaii as part of the Iolani Classic. Catholic will play tomorrow in the 2nd round and their likely opponent will be nationally ranked Montverde, FL. Montverde plays a local team from Hawaii in their first round game. Should Lexington Catholic and Mason County both lose tomorrow, they would play each other in a consolation game Monday. Don't have any stats, but judging from the quarter by quarter updates, Catholic jumped out to be a big lead early, that lead was cut down to 3 by the end of the 2nd quarter and was just a 5 point lead going into the 4th before they pulled away and won.
  15. Game played in Hawaii as part of the Iolani Classic. Mason County led throughout including a few double digit leads, but couldn't put them away. Kaimuki hit several 3 pointers in the 4th to keep it too darn close. Setty, Gilbert with 14, Black with 16 This was a 1st Round game, Royals advance to play the winner of Mt. Vernon, NY and another Hawaii team on Saturday. Mt. Vernon is ranked #14 nationally, so it would be a safe bet who Mason County will play tomorrow night. I believe the start time is around 1am Maysville time. Kaimuke only averages around 45 points a game, has virtually no size. The Hawaii teams usually don't fare well in this tournament. Oak Hill ranked #1 in the country is in this tournament. They played a Hawaii team last night and beat them 108-33. Lexington Catholic plays a team from China in a few hours. If Catholic wins, they would likely take on nationally ranked Montverde from Florida. http://www.iolaniclassic.hawaiihoops.com/schedule/boys-division-i/
  16. Mason County (3-3) led 8-6 in the first quarter before the Lady Lions went on a 15-0 run to take the lead for keeps. Moore and Fraley each hit a 3-pointer during the surge. Outsized Mason County managed to stay within striking distance despite converting only 13 of 26 free throw attempts. “I thought we had a chance to put them away and didn’t,” Pete Fraley said. “We kind of got complacent and did some standing around on the defensive end. If Mason County made their free throws we would have been in a world of trouble.” Mason County (45) — Menke 2, Morton 3, Moore 7, Moran 14, Butler 4, Smith 15, Weddle, Bierley, Henry, Hardin, Simms. PF: 15. FT: 13-26. 3-point FGs: 2 (Morton, Smith). Boyd County (54) — Moore 10, Plybon 10, Luttrell 2, Chaney 2, Brown 5, Stewart 5, Fraley 8, Wheeler 10, Rose 2. PF: 21. 3-point FGs: 4 (Moore 2, Fraley 2). http://dailyindependent.com/localsports/x1707765742/Young-Lady-Lions-provide-relief
  17. Final Tough loss for the Royals, but I did expect it. Princeton jumped out to an early lead and carried it to a 16 point halftime lead, 34-18. Give Mason County all the credit in the world for battling back and cutting the lead down to 5 in the 4th quarter. Nothing wrong with losing to one of the better teams in Division 1 basketball ball in Ohio. Now the Royals get to escape this crappy weather and head to Hawaii.
  18. I saw that, I was like, why is HT starting a thread with no score, he has been on this site for 20 years and knows better. I listened to all the 4th and OT, great game on both sides. The line "Norton keeps coming back like a bad check" will be stuck in my head for days.
  19. Final CC 3-1 BB 3-2 Camels with a 4 point play with 4 seconds to go in OT to win the game. Mustangs hit a shot at the end of regulation to get it to OT.
