  2. McCann hits a 3 pointer at the buzzer to win it. I know Boyd County would have likely lost in 2nd round, but goodness, THIS CLOSE to getting their first win in Morehead in 10 years. Oh well.
  3. Over the years when these polls are taken, it's usually 50/50 with 9th and 10th. No surprise to see the same results here in this poll. Lived here in Maysville since the start of the 2006-2007 season, so yeah, I'm a 10th region person. Even when I move from the area later this year, I'm so thankful for sites like this, the KHSAA and how everything is covered very thoroughly. I did live in Ashland for a few years during the "Mayo" years and got to know 16th Region basketball, so I still follow that region a little bit. 9th and 11th are great basketball as well.
  4. I think the arguments are more for the environment that the Fieldhouse offers than anything else. I have never been to BOK and I'm sure it buries the Convo in Ohio, but attending a playoff game at the convo last year there was no emotion, it was a factory line of game after game. It didn't have any emotion to it at all. There was a nice crowd, but the place wasn't half full and depsite fans of the teams being in the game, it was hard to truly get wrapped up in it. I say that as a casual fan with no real dog in the fight. As the numbers show, there was really no difference in payout to the schools.
  5. As soon as I hit enter, I knew I had a brain cramp. It had to be per session, can't clear that place after each game.
  6. I had thought about that too, in 2007 tickets were 5 dollars. I don't know if it said how much tickets were at BOK, I didn't attend.
  7. Yeah, I noticed that too. Reward teams who win region games, I was also glad to see that the 10th is right there as one of the most profitable regions of any in boys basketball. I'm really going to miss it when I leave this summer, you can't beat Kentucky high school basketball.
  8. Thanks for the link, fascinating to look at. In 2007 at the Fieldhouse and 2009 when held at the BOK each participating 10th region team got a little over 4,000. No difference. What's funny is that in 2007 roughly 42,000 was reported in ticket sales, in 2009, it was roughly 52 thousand dollars in ticket sales. The extra money went to the BOK to hold the event.
  9. I would like to know how much money the 10th Region tournament roughly makes at the Fieldhouse. Are we talking six figures over the 4 days? If that's anywhere near close and each team in the region gets a cut regardless of whether or not they made it, that's like 5,000 dollars to each school. That's a lot of money, especially for the smaller schools.
  10. Oh okay, I couldn't remember how they do it. So the only complaints we will have is why the Royals are in the double bonus and spotted 10 points when the game starts.
  11. I always think it's funny when homecourt is brought up, as if Mason County is the only school who gets to vote or has final say. It was the best venue to hold it for a long time. Now that there are two other venues, it will be rotated, problem solved. Something I didn't notice until today, isn't the bottom team the "home team". I mention that because if Clark and Mason meet in the finals will we get to have the debate again over where the Mason County students should sit
  12. If someone can merge, thanks. :thumb: http://www.bluegrasspreps.com/showthread.php?216840-2011-11th-Region-Draw
  13. I really wanted to pay 55 dollars to see a high school basketball game, oh well, maybe next year.
  14. I would love for the Royals to get another shot at Montgomery. It was an absolute joke the way the game ended at the Fieldhouse, I'm sure the kids would very much look forward to playing them again. Campbell County won't be easy, but it's a game they "should" win. As for Monday night, IF it happens, it would be a proper ending to this amazing chapter in their rivalry.
  15. Figured we would see a whopper of a 1st round matchup, my goodness.
  16. Looking at the Royals stats from the first meeting, a few things really jump out. Setty with 34, Black and Gilbert each had 9. Mason County also shot just 5 for 14 from free throw line. Of course having Neal will make a huge difference, I would think the Royals "should" win by 10 or more.
  17. If it plays out the way the season has, going to be one heck of a tournament.
  18. If the Royals can get by the Camels and Clark takes on Scott on Saturday, looks like I might have to go to both semifinal games.
  19. I have no problem with whomever Mason County draws, the kids won't have to worry about overlooking anyone to get at Clark County. Campbell County came down to a last second shot and we all remember what happened when Montgomery came to the Fieldhouse. I would think those games alone will have their attention. Even though the Royals beat Scott going away in the 1st game of the year, Scott came out and was hitting 3's left and right, that's the only reminder they need to not take anyone lightly. Can you imagine if we do get a Clark Mason Saturday night game, especially if it's the second game of the night. Being a split session, the line of people waiting to get in and then you have everyone who is leaving the gym wanting to get back in to see the second game. Going to be a tad bit of a cluster, IF it happens.
  20. As we saw tonight with Lexington Catholic or anyone from the stronger districts. It's not fair that they still wouldn't get a shot at the region title. In the case of Trinity not even get into the region.
  21. Wow, so now we are talking 7 or 8 dollars a ticket? Which I guess isn't too bad if you are seeing the two games on Thursday, Friday. BUT Saturday is a split session, 16 dollars?? Do we have to pay for the 3D glasses too?? School's phone # is 606-564-5563
  22. I saw it first hand against Bishop Brossart when Pawsat got to play. Within seconds of coming in, he was getting his hands on loose balls and just a presence on defense. Any points he can give them is a bonus, it's just a huge difference having him on the court.
  23. I think the parking right out front is reserved for that very reason, you might want to call and ask. I know they have two people there watching whoever pulls in, so I'm sure it's faculty only, handicapped, etc. I just hope that Clark and Mason are opposite sides of the bracket again, no disrespect meant to any other 10th schools, but a Monday night showdown would be the proper way to close this chapter of the rivalry.
  24. Augusta 11 9 13 12 45 Mason Co. 18 12 25 17 72 39th District Championship at Mason Co. Augusta (10-15) -- J. Kelsch 6, Fraysure 16, Appleman 3, Moore 6, Thorpe 2, Hamilton 6, Krebs 3, T. Kelsch 3. Mason Co. (18-12) -- Gilbert 11, Henry 1, Black 17, Harris 6, Setty 18, Pawsat 10, Hamm 4, Jackson 3, Chambers 2.
