“About two or three years ago there were some talks about starting up a program,” Fraysure said. “We held some skills clinics two years ago and we played in the winter Sports of All Sorts League in Florence last year. This year the plan was to implement freshmen and junior varsity programs with next year adding varsity to the mix.” Mason County’s plans do not end with just a varsity program. Fraysure also hopes to start the sport in the middle school this spring as well. The hitch is finding someone to coach the team, since she already serves as Mason County’s varsity softball coach. Despite their newness to the sport, the Lady Royals may be able to count an experienced lineup as one of their strong points when they take to the court for their first varsity matches next fall. I just glanced over this thread, if it's been said, I do apologize. I wasn't able to make it to Rupp this year for the Sweet 16, but I did make sure and order a program and got it today. Of course they have stats for anything/everything in the back and one of them is most fouls called in a single game. In a list of 10 teams that have had the most fouls called against them in a single game, Scott County is listed 3 different times. I believe someone else said it was their style of play and while all those players fouling out is ridiculous, it doesn't appear to be anything new.

Yep, that stat says it all, 3 to 0. Doesn't diminish what a great group of kids Elliott had, but at the end of the day, look at the hardware.

I wasn't able to make it to Rupp this year, but I still listened to every Mason County game on the radio. I do agree that when any team has a great deal of success you will get your fair share of bandwagon fans. After Mason County won the 10th Region, from 92-94, they didn't win another one until 2002. While I can't see them having another 8 year drought, the time is coming for them to have a few "off" years by their standards. We will then see who the true fans are.

Injuries, players quitting, all the weather problems moving games and still make it to Saturday. There are not enough words to say how proud I am of these players and coaches. State tournament almost felt like an afterthought with all the emotion of that win against Clark County. All the credit in the world to Valley, really figured this was their game to lose and they took care of business. Good luck tonight Shelby! :thumb:

I believe Mason County had a 5 or 6 point lead at halftime last year against Valley. I think it was tied at 39 late in the 4th, Shelby Valley went on a run to put it away. I would love to see the Royals continue this dream season, but at the same time, I would love to see the mountain school face Goliath in the championship game.

I believe through 30 games now, Mason County scores around 58 and gives up around 50. I'm not a math expert, but that likely means we are in for yet another 4th quarter back and forth type game. I'm enjoying the ride, but I hate all the close games.

I saw a stat I believe in the Hardin County newspaper that Mason County and North Hardin have around the same number of appearances at the Sweet 16. Even with that even number, this stat was pretty amazing. North Hardin has played 20 games in the Sweet 16 Mason County has WON 20 games in the Sweet 16

I was worried about all the talk of an "easy" draw. While the bottom half avoided most of the top ranked teams in the state, Mason Couny has been up and down this year for a number of reasons. They really haven't had any "easy" wins this year. I like their chances tomorrow, but certainly not taking anything for granted. Thanks to whomever fixed my thread title, couldn't remember if OT needed to be in parantheses or not. Royals are well known for going on big time scoring droughts, I knew it was coming after the first quarter and wasn't shocked to see this come down to the wire. Congrats to North Hardin on a wonderful season. :thumb:
