Had WC not played like a possum from the mountains in the headlights the first period, the Dragons win this one!

Had Ballard not been colder than an eskimo from the field and the free throw line in the second half this one isn't close. Just saying.

Just an unbelievable game, would you rather lose by 20 and never be in it or come all the way back to lose at the buzzer.

Ballard is not a great shooting team. What makes their percentages stand out is that they score off layups from their defensive gambling.

 

Chiles who played awful like a blind lady on a senior cruise trip playing shuffle board, goes from goat to hero in a split second.

I didn't mean a great bank shot in a Tim Duncan kind of way. I meant it as a great moment to make the shot. A game winning shot at the buzzer is a great shot whether it banks in or not in my eyes.

Ballard vs Scott County, a rematch of the state title game two years ago. As Mackey would say, "throw me the the rock."

They've played 12 times overall and the series is split 6-6. They've met twice in state tourney with both taking place in finals.

If I didn't know better, I'd guess that WC was pulling a rope a dope this year against Ballard. Each game they fell way behind and then charged back. I'm proud they didn't quit, I sure wanted to. At halftime I was thinking about how I'd spend my month off of BGP. Great comeback, just wasn't meant to be. Like I said - Destiny.

 

BTW, that makes 6 for 6 now for Ballard against WC, all by 3-6 points.

Destiny doesn't have anything to do with the way WC played the 1st quarter. That was flatout the worst basketball in tournament history for a quarter of play. But give them credit, they did make a game of it in the end.
