Destiny doesn't have anything to do with the way WC played the 1st quarter. That was flatout the worst basketball in tournament history for a quarter of play. But give them credit, they did make a game of it in the end.

Enjoyed the game. Both teams have alot to be proud of. Hope Jones for Ballard is going to be OK. He took a nasty fall in the first half.

Not one team on Ballard's schedule all year failed to score at least one field goal in the first quarter. WC supposedly has two D1 players. How could they not score a field goal for nearly 10 minutes?

How many teams on Ballard's schedule played them at Rupp Arena? One, now two. It's a different environment, you either understand that or you don't. They had an unbelievably bad quarter in which they only took 7 shots in the first place, three of which came on their first possession with a jumper and two tip-in attempts. Nine turnovers, seven shots. One of those shots may as well have been a turnover when they tried that stupid lob to George on the run that he couldn't get down for a dunk and never would. So IMO after that initial possession, they had three shots that were really shots at all. I was praying by the end of the quarter they'd just shoot the freaking ball rather than turn it over. Hit it, miss it, who cares, just get the shot up. This was why I wanted them to make it last year, so they could get acclimated to the environment. I don't think they ever did.

 

As to the two D1 players, I've said before that they're not as high D1 as some would like to believe. George is a fine high school post player, but at 6'7" that is not where he will play in college, and he doesn't have the shot to be a PF right now. Jordan still has a metal rod in his leg, and will not be tall enough to make it high, and might not be able to make it D1 at all.

Let's say this, Warren Central had a special season as all the teams did in the Sweet 16 regardless of mountain, city, or wherever. WC had a bad quarter, so what. They were there and they competed and they know they were good enough to win even if the fans say otherwise.

 

Hats off to the kids for getting down 30 and coming back. The loss will heal in time, but the heart they showed will last a life time.

Here we go. Yeah, and Ballard loses five starters and they won't be back again too. You have no idea if they'll be back next season when it comes to top tiered programs like WC in the 4th.

Depends on your definition of lean. He does have that good crop from Moss coming through. I'd be surprised if he retired before his son graduates, and he's a freshman.

 

I agree that Bowling Green and Russellville will be the teams to beat. Russellville would be my preseason #1 and BG hot on their heels. WC should be around #3 to begin the year.
