Final

I said Mason would win by 10 , not bad.:ylsuper:

Congrats Mason. :thumb: (While this GRC fan is bashing his head against a wall)

Mason County bounces back from a first half deficit.

Treg Setty just can't seem to get it going in this state tournament. He is a tremendous talent, but is struggling shooting the ball. Hope he can get it together by tomorrow morning.

Huge game for sophomore Tyler Black! Finished with 18 points.

Congrats to Mason Co. on making it to the Semi-Finals! O'Hearn has done a masterful job with this group.

Sounds like Butler played them pretty tough.

Congrats to Mason Co!

Final 4 of state!

Great play out of Tyler Black, Neal Pawsat and Josh Harris off the bench.

Great team effort.

Who'da thunk it? After the loss at home to Campbell County, I was ready to stick a fork in this year's Royals. Oh me of little faith.

As I look at this year's final four, I see some common traits.

1. It can't be emphasized enough - this is a guard's game. Solid point guard play, leadership on the floor, whatever you want to call it. All four teams left standing have excellent guard play.

2. Experience and high basketball IQ. Winning big tournament games inspires confidence.

3. Coaching. A fellow BGPer and I were talking at halftime, and we agreed that Mason County needed to come out of halftime with a lot more pressure. Ninety seconds into the third quarter and Mason County looked like a completely different team.

4. Defense. While offense is pretty, all four teams probably (just guessing, no stats to back it up) held their quarterfinal opponents well under their season averages.

How about them Royals. Man they just keep making believers out of everyone. You're representing the region like you always do - with lots of success.

Congrats to Mason Co. on making it to the Semi-Finals! O'Hearn has done a masterful job with this group.

I agree, he has done a great job and gets it all from his boys. Great coach and great guy.:ylsuper:

Great second half! I agree O'Hearn's adjustments at the half were the difference. As well as, his decision to go with the hot hands and sit some some of his regulars.

Congrats Mason. :thumb: (While this GRC fan is bashing his head against a wall)

Try not to take it so hard, and thanks for the props.:thumb:

I know that the Golden Corral was happy to see Mason County still in the tournament last night. Couldn't take two steps without running into someone sporting a 10th Region t-shirt.

Agree with Nate; extended minutes from Black, Harris (on defense), Pawsat, etc. was the correct thing to do given the situation. That's another mark of a successful team that doesn't have a superstar - any number of guys can step up and play big. Last night was #31's turn.
