MC in the final four, without question they made their statement on the floor and proved a lot of naysayers wrong.

Injuries, players quitting, all the weather problems moving games and still make it to Saturday.

 

There are not enough words to say how proud I am of these players and coaches. State tournament almost felt like an afterthought with all the emotion of that win against Clark County.

 

All the credit in the world to Valley, really figured this was their game to lose and they took care of business.

I was going to say to passtheball that the win over Clark County was the one that proved the naysayers wrong. I feel like Mason County won two games they should win once they got there, though North Hardin was a tough game as well. But the Clark County win, that was the big one, the one that showed how far Mason County came this year.

Whew,Tough ride down broadway right now,Give all the credit to Valley they flat took it to Mason with there hot shooting and Justice well what can u say he's a stud and had answer for every Royal run..I'm so proud of these Royals though you done nothing but prove everybody wrong all year and should hang those heads high..Getting to the final 4 in the state and playing on Saturday is a great accomplishment and be proud we just run into a better team on this day..Again congrates to Valley and ill be there tonight hoping you win it all now the Royals are out..Royals u return a lot talent next year so get to work now and make it 4 in a row..Seniors its been a great run and I say thank you,Goodluck to you all in the future and be proud of the mark you left on Mason County..

What a great season for Mason Co, many people didn't give this team a chance. Final Four of the State Tourny is a great run for this team. Getting beat by the back to back All A State Champ's is nothing to hang your head on.

I first want to say that Shelby Valley is just a better team than Mason Co. When Valley is shooting like that it would be very hard for Mason to beat them. Justice is a stud that Mason Co. had no answer for. Once again O'Hearn got this team here but I do not understand why Blueford was not in the game. Blueford was the player of the game the first game up here and only played 14 minutes last night and probably about 14 today. That is awful. Good run though for the Royals. The majority of the older guys have their ring and now they got a chance to lead a team back to Saturday at Rupp. It does not get any better than that. Justin Lang I love watching you play with the heart that you play with. Blueford you had a heck of a year after you started getting playing time. Goodluck to all the seniors!

What a great season and a good run for Mason County...unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. :cry: There's only one better way to end a season on Saturday and thats in the night game at Rupp Arena...the Royals were just one short of that.

 

Coming into the year, many (including myself) didn't think that Coach O'Hearn had enough talent to get back to the Greatest Show in Hoops, but boy did they prove us all wrong! Injuries early in the season allowed Mason to become a more balanced team, especially Rhueben Bluford. I'd like to call it the "Blooming of Bluford" as he was giving PT to show us all what he is capable of. I don't know why the state tournament should be any different??? :confused: I hope he is able to continue his basketball career (from what I've been hearing, Berea and Pikeville are possibilites). IMO the guard combo of Jordan Gilbert and Justin Lang was the Royals greatest asset come tourney time (10th Region & Sweet 16). JG will be a fun player to watch next year in both football and basketball, while J.Lang will be missed surprisingly on offense, but particularly on the defensive end. I believe Justin earned the right to be named All-Tournament Team by his play at Rupp. Bradley Lang was an aggressive player on both ends of the floor, but just couldn't seem to get anything going at Rupp. However, he has better things coming his way...good luck to him as he continues his football career. One player that needs to keep his head up is Treg Setty. He had a lot of pressure to be the leader of this year's team, but I am not sure if he fits that role. He is a good player with even greater potential, but needs to find out how to maximize what he has been given to the fullest. He always wears his emotion on his proverbial sleeve, but he needs to learn how to keep them in check. Neal Pawsat, Tyler Black, and Josh Harris are all athletic studs and will be assets for the both the football and basketball programs at Mason County next year. Look for these three players to be on D1 fields sometime in the next several years.

 

I think there will always be questions about coaching, whether it be strategy or substition patterns, but Coach O'Hearn and staff, especially Carwile, did a phenomenal job this year...they must be doing something right to give the Royals the opportunity to play at Rupp Arena 3 straight years.

 

Mason County was just beat by a better team this morning...that team being Shelby Valley. Solid, fundamental play from the Wildcats allowed them to advance to tonight to play for the state championship. They already have the All "A" under their belts and I think they will get this one too. Oh yeah, and they have Elisha Justice.

Mason played tired and had more turnovers than I expected. Great season and I look forward to seeing Valley play one more time.

 

I agree. The Royals, other than the guards, played very deflated today.
