  1. A photographer and Navy veteran is fighting back after a photo she posted to Facebook started an online backlash. Vanessa Hicks said she had no idea her photo would be considered controversial. The photo, from a military family’s newborn photo shoot, showed a newborn infant wrapped in an American flag held by his father, who was in his military uniform. Hicks, a Navy veteran herself and the wife of an active-duty Navy member, said her intention was to honor the flag as well as her clients, who wanted to incorporate their military service in the photo shoot. 4. Although Joseph Kosinski has long been attached to helm a big screen follow-up to his 2010 TRON Legacy, news from the grid has been fairly quiet these past few years. That appears to changing today, however, as Vancouver-based VanCity Buzz is reporting that TRON 3 is gearing up for a fall shoot! We’ve heard rumblings recently that a new TRON feature was being eyed at the studio, but we have not as of yet received any official confirmation. According to the outlet, however, cameras will roll beginning October 5! According to the outlet, Garrett Hedlund is attached to reprise his role as Sam Flynn. Although her name isn’t listed, it’s hard to imagine the story continuing from where it left off in TRON Legacy without Olivia Wilde’s Quorra returning as well. http://www.superherohype.com/news/333077-is-tron-3-shooting-in-vancouver-this-fall

  11. The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday revived the University of Notre Dame's religious objections to the requirement for contraception coverage under President Barack Obama's healthcare law, throwing out a lower court decision in favor of the federal government. The justices asked the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to reconsider its decision against the South Bend, Indiana-based Roman Catholic university in light of the June 2014 Supreme Court ruling that allowed certain privately owned corporations to seek exemptions from the provision. The case is part of national litigation concerning religious objections to the contraception provision of the 2010 Affordable Care Act, known widely as Obamacare. The law requires employers to provide health insurance policies that cover preventive services for women including access to contraception and sterilization. 12. Fire crews in Arvada responding to reports of an explosion early Tuesday morning arrived to find a home engulfed in flames and the phrase "My wife is a cheater" scrawled across its exterior. Crews were called to the home near the intersection of West 68th Avenue and Nelson Street at about 1:30 a.m., the Arvada Fire Protection District said. "Upon their arrival, they were faced with a lot of fire that was coming from the front of the house as well as the back of the house," said Deputy Fire Marshall Deanna Harrington, a district spokeswoman. 13. Yep, I kept waiting for someone to ask what it's from or saying how much they love the movie. It's interesting now how that movie isn't necessarily science fiction anymore.
  14. Tourists are once again getting into trouble in Italy, with two American women caught carving their names into Rome’s Colosseum. The Californians, aged 21 and 25, snuck away from their tour group on Saturday and began scratching their initials into the amphitheatre with a coin. They managed a “J” and an “N” around 8cm high, before taking a selfie with their handiwork. Police were quick to catch the two Americans and report them for damaging the ancient site. The women may now go in front of a judge and face a penalty. Defacing the walls is strictly forbidden, as pointed out on signs in both English and Italian. But some visitors think little of breaking the rules as they view the crumbling monument differently from other top sites such as the Vatican, said a spokesman for the Special Superintendency for the Archaeological Heritage of Rome. 15. A Sandy Springs sanitation worker said he was taken to jail for picking up trash too early in the morning, a violation of the Georgia city’s ordinance. Kevin McGill will spend the next 14 weekends in jail because he picked up trash minutes after 5 a.m. one morning—an offense worthy of automatic jail time, according to the city solicitor. Chief prosecutor Bill Riley said picking up waste too early in the morning has been a recurring problem no matter what approach is taken to limit the issue. He asked the judge to sentence McGill to 30 days in jail. Garbage man sent to jail for picking up trash too early | Atlanta
  16. ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – They’re calling it “prom-munism.” Seniors at an Albuquerque school want their prom to have a Communism theme. Seniors at Cottonwood Classical Preparatory School near I-25 and Paseo del Norte voted online this week for the theme of their prom this year. “They wanted prom-munism, so that’s what got voted for the most,” said senior Sarah Zachary. She voted for “A Night in the Reef,” because the prom is expected to take place at the Albuquerque Aquarium on April 25. “We have a lot of jokesters in our grade, so they wanted it to be funny and a lot of them are really intense with politics,” Zachary said. http://krqe.com/2015/03/05/seniors-vote-for-communism-themed-prom/
  17. Barring a breakdown in formal contract negotiations, Ndamukong Suh will sign with the Miami Dolphins after the new league year officially begins Tuesday for a deal that will pay him approximately $114 million with $60 million in guaranteed money, league sources told ESPN. The Dolphins and Suh's agent, Jimmy Sexton, discussed those six-year parameters once the 72-hour window opened Saturday for dialogue between teams and unrestricted free agents, sources confirmed. While Suh's former team, the Detroit Lions, were among other teams making competitive proposals, the Dolphins' parameters far exceeded the rest of the clubs interested in the defensive tackle. 18. Gabby Giffords, the former Arizona congresswoman grievously wounded in a 2011 shooting near Tucson that killed six people, returned to Capitol Hill this week to renew her push for legislation that would expand background checks for gun purchases to include gun shows and Internet sales. The legislation, a similar version of which was blocked by a Senate filibuster in 2013, stands almost no chance in the Republican-led Congress. But Giffords—for whom “talking is really tough,” as she admitted in a recent interview—made the trip anyway. “Stopping violence takes courage,” she said. “The courage to do what’s right, the courage of new ideas. … Now is the time to come together and be responsible. Democrats, Republicans, everyone. We must never stop fighting. Fight, fight, fight. Be bold, be courageous, the nation’s counting on you.” Here is how the National Rifle Association chose to respond to Giffords on Thursday: NRA?s personal swipe at Gabby Giffords on Twitter: The National Rifle Association?s new low.
  19. MIDLAND, MI -- A Midland County woman's gym membership was canceled after she refused to stop telling fellow gym members "a man" was using the woman's locker room. Yvette Cormier said the incident occurred Saturday, Feb. 28, when she entered the women's locker room at the Planet Fitness location at 701 Joe Mann Boulevard in Midland. "I was blocked, because a man was standing there," Cormier said. "It freaked me out because, why is a man in here?" After taking her complaints to Planet Fitness' corporate office, Cormier said she was told that the gym was a "no judgement zone" and they would not tell the individual in question to stay out of the women's locker room. The person has not been identified. The slogan "Judgement Free Zone" is regularly used by Planet Fitness. A statement released by McCall Gosselin, public relations director for Planet Fitness, states that members can use the locker room corresponding with their personal gender identity. Cormier disagrees with the policy and feels it's a safety issue. Planet Fitness cancels woman's membership after her complaints of transgender woman in locker room | MLive.com
