Ugly, ugly, but hard fought game.

Brossart jumped to a 11-4 lead to open the game. Bracken tied it at 15 at the quarter stop and led 22-21 at the half. Brossart fell behind by 6 at 34-28 with 3:50 to play in the third quarter before Brossart went on a 12-0 run to take a 40-34 lead early in the fourth quarter.

Brossart got a big lift from Joe Jennings in the fourth quarter - 8 points on the night, a couple of blocked shots and a major strip when the Mustangs needed it. Andrew Cummins did his best to keep the Polar Bears in the game late, scoring all five of the teams points in the final period. Cummins led all scorers with 16 points.

Bracken will hopefully learn from this game and move on. They have the potential to be a better than expected team this year. Like how hard they are working to get better.

I too was impressed with how hard the Bears played. They had us on the ropes in the third period and we were fortunate to force a few turnovers that resulted in Brossart points (12-0), allowing us to take the lead and draw off.

 

We obviously take pride in our defense, and holding the Bears, who had averaged 88 points in their first two outings, to 39 points is reflective of that.

If Jefferson doesn't score 25+ per game it's over...................

Just an observation, but who is #21 for BB? He took 3 of the ugliest wide open shots have ever seen, banging off the front or sides of the backboard and he had a shooting sleeve on his right arm,problem was he shot left-handed.
