Mason County 60 John Hardin 49

Final from the Joe B Hall Prep Classic.

Boxscore anyone? I wasn't able to attend this game. Would greatly appreciate some quick stats.

Very surprised by this score. John Hardin had only lost one game until this game.

Did not play a very strong schedule.

Congrats to the Royals on the win.

Would be nice to see the Royals really build some momentum before D-Day on February 4th.

The Mason County Royals held the John Hardin Bulldogs to 22 points below their scoring average in a 60-49 victory tonight in the Joe B. Hall Kentucky Prep Classic at Montgomery County. Treg Setty had a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds and was named the Pat Doyle Most Valuable Player of the Game. Tyler Black scored 12 points. Jordan Gilbert and Josh Harris each added 10 points. Mason County hosts Fleming County Tuesday night.

MC (10-7) Gilbert 10, Black 12, Setty 20, Harris 10, Henry 4, Menefee 4

JH (13-2) Price 2, Harness 3, Bonner 7, Richard 12, Foster 8, Savoy 8, Rasheed 2, Holloway 2

Royals fell behind by scores of 8-3 and 14-8 before righting the ship. JH's Richard was having his way inside early. A traditional 3-point play from Gilbert at the end of the first quarter gave Mason County its first lead at 15-14. Gradually increased the lead to 6 at half and were never headed after that.

Typical strong performances from Setty, Gilbert and Black; with the addition of what I thought was a very solid game from Harris, who repeatedly got free for easy baskets down low.

Only the third Mason County game I've seen this season, but they looked much better this time around. Crisp passing, solid defense. A work in progress for sure, but it's nice to see progress. Pawsat visits the doctor on Monday to see about next rehab steps.

I really like watching Gilbert. Seems to me he has a very high basketball IQ.

Good game for Mason Co. They looked better yesterday than they have looked all year. I was surprised how weak John Hardin looked to be ranked as high as they were touted. They must have had a very off game. Mason looked much improved.
