With those out of the way let me say that CCH needs to watch this tape and see how poor their decision-making was. HHS started a small lineup. Huge size advantage for CCH. First couple of possessions end with no touches for Jake. Jake then scores 10 of 12 points in the quarter. 2nd quarter starts and it seems like he got no looks the first 4 minutes. Highlands had NO ONE who could stop him yet CCH decided it was time for everyone to take turns taking bad shots. You have to know where your bread is buttered and keep at it until the opponent figures out how to stop him. When HHS made their run in the 4th it was after many non-Jake possessions. Game gets close and they go back to Jake and the margin goes back to 10. It ain't rocket science. He had 20 to 30 points and could have had 50.

Boy did I have the wrong impression of Crowley. I saw him last year and simply wasn't impressed. He either had a bad night or worked his hump off this summer.

 

He was the ONLY legit weapon HHS had and he delivered. Of course I would ask how the ONLY weapon finds himself open but that's for another discussion. He took care of business and kept HHS in the game. He looked like he was flat worn out. Congrats to him on his performance.

Most under rated shooter in the region after seeing him tonight. He used to be a player that hung around the arc. Now he's working his butt off. He was sick all weekend and it showed at the end. Jake Thelen is the best player in the region. He's first in scoring, 2nd in rebounding and 7th in assists in all of NKY. Highlands decided to not double him and it cost Drew Baker some points and Jake some assists, but Drew still changed the game with his inside play on defense. He alters shots every time someone is in the lane.

Hostile environment and it's CovCath Highlands. I'll take a 13 point win. CovCath won both halves, but this game was won in the 3rd quarter when CovCath outscored the Bluebirds 17-6.

Yes, sloppy game by the CCH Frosh, but a win is a win.

If I'm Highlands administrators or Coach Flynn I make sure the CCH student section is NOT right behind the Highlands bench. Seems simple.
