The suspension was a brilliant move by Holmes administration or coaching staff. The kids weren't around to get into more trouble or get burned out on hoops - during the tough part of the season. Now they are back and refreshed and with a chip on their shoulder. Holmes will be tough to beat the rest of the way out.

It was nice of the Henry Clay team to show up tonight to watch the game. There were about 15 players and two coaches present. I hope you bought a hot dog and a coke each boys... We need that $$$ at Scott Co.

Chris James - a SC senior - was suprised to see his ailing mother meet him at half court in a wheel chair on senior night. It was an emotional moment for a kid who has had a tough way to go. KEEP FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT CHRIS. We're all with you.

Observations: - MC is a tough team. I'd consider everyone of their starters Forwards or Centers. Big - tough and athletic. I thought they would miss Mathis's ball handling - and they did. - I hope they end up on the other side of the bracket with Bryan Station. - Morris was tough for us to stop. He can drive to the hoop or shoot the three. He is awesome in the open floor. - Mackey was the best player on the court tonight. - Walls had a bad shooting night - bad shot selection early - got a hip pointer in the 2nd quarter - showed some toughness the rest of the game. - Cameron Hundley, Tyler Portwood and Jimmy Warren made a lot of plays to help SC get the win - rebounds, steals and hustle plays. - There were some really bad calls both ways. - Kudos to the MC fans for getting to the gym early enough to claim a section of the lower level that isn't reserved. - Boo to both student sections for some of the chants. - Big Cheer for the SC stat crew for realizing that the score keeper gave a basket to MC that was scored by SC. The scoreboard was corrected - with both score books agreeing on the score. - The 11th region tournament is going to be AWESOME.

Jordan Lee had to leave school today with a temperature of 103.

That's him. I'm anxious to see if Fields (who hit the winning shot last year but is now playing PG) can handle the heat.

That's what happens when the referee locker room looks is set up like a hospitality room for every game. I hear coach Hicks makes home made Chili and BBQ for the refs... Just so they'll feel "at home" outside the Lexington city limits.

I think Central misses that little PG from last year. He was solid against SC's traps. I can't remember his name, but he was a competitor.

I don't see it - we lost to Huntington (the 6th ranked team in the nation ON THEIR FLOOR by 4) They got up in us and made us take a lot of bad shots, but we still had a chance to win in the 4th quarter. Coach Hicks had the team ready to play at a high level. I actually thought that we learned some lessons from this game that carried over into the Lex. Cath game. We came back from down 8 in the 4th quarter to win by 9 AT Catholic. Coach Hicks made a heck of an adjustment in that one to let Mackey penetrate against the zone in that one when SC was having trouble scoring. I personally would sit Jordan Lee on the bench every time he shot a 3, but that's just my opinion - I'm sure Coach Hicks has his too.

I think that we have some weaknesses that haven't been exposed yet... and I hope that trend continues. We'll be ready for Madison Central - revenge will be the motivation in this one. Simpson and Morris are tough match-ups for Scott Co. Lee/Hundley/Phares are going to have to come to play Friday.

The flip side of this post is that no one is holding a gun to the kid's head making him/her play. If the kid can't handle being coached then do something else. Lord knows there are enough other organized things to get into these days.

It's that darn near thing that's gotten us the past couple of years. I guarantee he was scouting. He works harder than any coach that I know of. Fanofthe11th - I can't figure out if you're blowing smoke and being sarcastic or if you really think SC is that much better than these other teams... (because we're really not)

Instruction and exposure don't usually happen at the same camp... Instructional camps - Bomgartner's Shooting Camp in Indiana, Georgetown College and Transy both have individual improvement camps, most HS coaches have individual improvement camps - if yours doesn't, send them to Billy Hicks camp here in Scott Co. He does a great job teaching the fundamentals of ball handling. Exposure Camps - there are invitational only camps like 5-Star, Nike, Adidas, etc. But there are also regional camps like "Blue Chip/High Potential Camp". Some kids go to the camps at the university they most want to attend. At UK some of the best campers scrimmage against UK players at night while the camp watches.

Some folks think Coach Hicks put the stall on too early in that game. I wouldn't call last year's win for MC a fluke. You have to have some things go just right to win the 11th region (or any) tournament. MC was fortunate to beat Woodford in the Semi-finals and then lots of things weht right when they beat my Cards. Things don't usually go "just right" unless you work your tail off - and the kids from MC did that. SC will have to have things go right to win it this year - it will not be a "walk" for sure. Walls attended the UK game last night against LSU as Tubby's guest. They are working him pretty hard to walk on.
